This is another way of asking “What is going to happen in next 2000 years?”. But the reason it was not stated such a way could be just because of informing us about the sad news that we will not be able to see it. Other than this, we can confidently guess that our actual level of knowledge, our population and the way of life were no way predictable results for the people who lived in 1st AD. Same is true for us when we attempt any fortune telling activity for year 4000 AD. I wonder if they would still be using our calendar system, anyway.

Nothing can be separated from its roots or causing effects, at least not in known universe. That’s why we can trace any technology, species, event or even universe itself back to its source through their evolutionary steps.

If there wasn’t the clash between western and eastern civilizations after the collapse of Roman Empire, today we might not talk about any industrial revolution which took place in Europe throughout 18th and 19th centuries. These centuries long clashes (which were dressed up as Christianity and Islam) did not mobilize only armies, but also provided the circulation of ideas and techniques. The ancient Chinese Civilization invented some elements of the modernization tools such as printing press and bureaucracy, but it did not lead to an industrial revolution. All in all, if you need an industrial revolution, or “anything” in that matter, you need historical pile-ups.

We have established everything using what we got from past. Same will be true for the future generations. There is only one time: right now! Call it year 2009 AD or anything else.

In 2000 years time I suspect the only superpower will be the Falkland Islands, with their penguin population being the supreme rulers of the universe, the US will be a smouldering radioactive toxic no-go zone, used only for the storage of biological penguin waste.
