i have been having problems with my laptop.

firstly it started randomly freezing or constantly reseting itself

also mcafee came up saying that it had problems which wernt resolved by hitting the fix button

then when my partner tried to do a system restore mcafee disapeared compleatly

it still runs in safe mode with network surport so i ran a microsoft scan which i dont think found anything (fell asleep before it finished and the computer raan out of power and switched off)

when i try yo run mcafee install it comes up with an empty box insted of the propper options

and lastly i tried to run both the onlkne bit deffender which simply wouldnt do anything when i hit accept and the 30 day trial but when i tried to insall that it said i didnt have permission even though i was in an admin login

i will try it but if nither mcafee or bitdefender will install i dont know how i will go with that one either.

I was hoping that someone could say what virus it is and more importantly if there is a kill program for it OR at least give me instructions on how to get it the hell out of my registry so that i CAN install virus scanner to clean it up for good

Most likely your system is messed up. I'd recommend formatting the hard drive and re-installing windows.

Reinstalling is probably not necessary if you can remove the virus. Do the online scan and see what the results are, then you'll be able to tell whether you can get rid of it. You'll almost certainly need to do a registry edit. Keep trying with virus checkers. Try as many as you possibly can.

The moral of this story is to make sure you have automatic updates turned on, don't open unsolicited email attachments even if they're from someone you know and don't download executables from warez sites.

Are you running XP or Vista?

Some viruses nowadays can disable virus scanning apps.
Here is another online virus scan you can try. Trend micro house call:
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

.......although, if you're infected with a nasty enough piece of malware, that's not going to work either. Can you post a list of processes you have running in task manager?

What model is your laptop? If it's a dell, I might be able to help you reinstall windows.

HP, XP i THINK service pack 2

ran microsofts online virus scanner and it came up clean. Cant really post a list right now because its running in safe mode and is there for stable (hence i dont think it would be running right now)

Don't reinstall the OS yet. It's almost never actually necessary (it does work though).

Download "Hijack This", run it, save a log file, and post it here.
