YAY! There is suffering, we must stop it! Who has the strength here? The israelis! Israelis suck. I know this because if i support the palestinians, i am on the side of the good guys. And if the palstinians have the upper hand, then i will support the israelis! YAY! I am such a good guy. I am always so moral.

    Yeah, I think so.

He is making fun of the Liberal tendency to always support the underdog -- regardless of the merit of the underdog's position -- and thus feel morally superior about himself.

That’s called “political masturbation”, just in case you were looking for the exact name of it.

No, TheKing is basically entirely missing the point just to make himself seem witty. And what is that point? It's wrong to either deliberately target civilians or to treat civilians as mere backgound whcih can acceptably absorb spare bullets. Both sides there do it. Israel does it a lot more than Palestine does. TheKing knows all this but would rather try to grandstand than make any kind of meaningful statement.

and this is your meaningful statement?

do you think the palestinians have the same rules of engagement as the israelis?

"what is that point? It's wrong to either deliberately target civilians or to treat civilians as mere backgound whcih can acceptably absorb spare bullets"

It is quite the terrible mindset.

No, I wouldn't say both sides really do it. Israel has, during it's major raids, counted civilians as background. Palestine has, at all times, treated civilians as the target.

oh come on! why can't israelis kill palestanians? They are God's chosen people they have right to kill any one? They should be able to and get away with all that, that is why we must support Israel and not the opposite.

Israel deliberately targets civilians too. Boith sides there do. The difference is that from one side it is a non-state-backed group, and the other side it is the state doing it. Remeber that IDF rocket attack that blew up a car with two kids in it? Or Jenin?

We have a show on SBS here called Dateline, just an hour each week on something going on in the world. One week was IDF/Palestinians. The reporters followed a UN crew around Jenin. They helped the UN crew dig a little girl out of the rubble of Jenin, after IDF tanks and bulldozers flattened the place.

    Yes, Israel deliberately targets civilians.

Then allow me to rephrase - Israel has targetted civilians, tends not to though (and this, from some people's standpoint, is debatable. But Israel does often target very valid targets), where as the Palestinians only target civilians. Generally schoolchildren, university students and bus riders.

Yes, I agree, that while Israel (a state) targets both civilian and military targets, certain groups of individuals who are Palestinian deliberately target only civilians. There is no Palestinian state, thus there is no Palestinian state-backed targeting of civilians. Arafat, the closest they have to a government, is in fact almost a target of those terrorist groups because, to gain international support, he denounces them at every turn. They have even made hints that they wish to kill him so more hardline leaders can take his place.

    So, we have:
    - arbitrary groups of armed civilians targeting Israeli civilians.
    - Israel targeting civilians.

Unfortunately, no. Does that make it right or acceptable? No.

he denounces them in English & praises them in Arabic.
    They are his army

it is acceptable. if it is not, war will not be waged. i am not that crass to avoid responsibility in my govts actions that result in civilian death.

I don't know that I believe it will REALLY help. But maybe the Isrealis should try honoring the agreements they've signed, and stay off of the land they WILLINGLY granted the Palestinians a LONG time ago.

Of course, I don't believe that anything short of giving up their religions will actually stop them from killing each other. And that ain't gonna happen any time soon.
