why do you always have to be so condescendingly insulting with anyone who doesn't agree with you? How has that ever helped the conversation?

yes, I do think you should. It will help me 'wise up' and maybe then I'll finally get it though my thick skull that your dog is your child.

How does incessantly disagreeing with me by posting comments indicating your refusal to see things from other people's perspective help the conversations?

You yourself seem to be pretty condscending towards my view of animals being family members. How else do you think I'm going to respond to that?

I agree that's as close as you're going to get. But that kind of makes my point

My experience is that not-so-smart-people (i.e. stupid people) quite frequently lie to themselves. Perhaps that's some kind of self-presevation, I don't know..

Maybe it helps if you visualize your neighbor blurting out that that new dresser you just bought is the most unsightliness one she has ever seen.
Or when she laughs at those new shoes you're so proud of.
    See my point ?

I bought the items cuz I thought they were pretty and a pet is bought because a person likes how they look.
I can definitely see that correlation.

I'm not REFUSING to see it. I don't see it. And I wasn't being condescending seeing your pets as family members. You yourself said you don't humanize them and yet they are part of your family. I don't understand that. Its not that I'm refusing to understand it, I don't understand it.

I don't think its stupid people, I think its people who never ever leave their comfort zone. Lots of people I went to high school with never left our town of 2000 people. They have the same mind set their whole life because they never hear a different option.

Perhaps. But then, perhaps that's because they are stupid

true, in todays world of satellite TV, cell phones, internet, etc, there is no excuse of not knowing a different option is there.

It's stupid to get mad in traffic or at your girlfriend for calling your pet ugly. Anger is only useful if it is under control ie. you become angry because of a conscious decision to.

agreed. You allow other people to control you when you don't control yourself.

Some of them even love them like spouses and post pictures up on the internet.

But in the end pets aren't children or spouses.

why would you take that personally? i am sure you boxer didnt mind the comment and tbh some people may think that is the type of comment you would expect to hear or maybe, in some way, even desire as the owner of a breed of dog that are known for their odd appearance.

Probably not. I remember an occasion when we were doing home movies for kicks. I was quite surprised at myself, instead of the friendly approachable person I considered myself [no, really!

], I was this rude, scowling person with an impatient off putting demeanour. Until then, I had never appreciated what the people who love me had to put up with. If I were someone else, I don't think I would like me. But fortunately, I am me <phew> so its easy to like myself.

I have a greater appreciation of the people in my life though.
