Police in southern Afghanistan have arrested 10 men in connection with an acid attack on schoolgirls earlier this month, officials say.

The men are all Taleban insurgents and some have confessed to taking part in the attack, the authorities say.

Several girls received severe burns when acid was thrown in their faces on 12 November in Kandahar city.

The Taleban denied involvement in the attack, which brought condemnation from around the world.

Kandahar Governor Rahmatullah Raufi said the attackers had been paid up to $2,000 (£1,300) by the Taleban to carry out the attack.

He did not say how many of the men had confessed. The men's names were not disclosed and they were not shown to reporters.

At least 15 schoolgirls and female teachers had acid sprayed at them by two men on a motorcycle near the Mirwais Nika Girls High School in Kandahar.

This has got to be the most disgusting thing i have ever read, 15 schoolgirls sprayed with acid all because of what? there not following shariya law of covering up from eyelash to toes?

This is not surprising anymore with the amount of times this thing seems to be happening.
It wasn't long ago that a girl was lit on fire because she put on lipstick. These ppl are truly fucked up.

This is most likely a provocation made by the current occupation UN forces there trying to get the locals to turn on their side instead of Taliban. This is most likely staged by the UN itself, hired some Afghan men told them to spray the acid and act like they were from Taliban. A perfect plan indeed.

 

...that they are really ****ed up or they are being framed by the UN forces trying to get local support for wipe-out of Taliban.

 

So in twisting things so as to place blame on someone or something else, you make burning young girls alive more palatable? Justified, perhaps?

These incidents having nothing to do with religion, there are no religious edicts calling for these acts, no fatwas etc. This sort of stuff happens when uneducated people go crazy.

 

I know acid is thrown in the faces of women quite often usually unvieled women, in pakistan your country of origin, they do it out of religous beliefs that are so fucked up its beyound belief, i am sure the afghan gov. is saying they were payed because to say otherwise, would even more incense public opinion in the west as to what exactly we are doing trying to help these imbeciles for.
