Ironically, both of these measures hold women back in society. So when will women be able to decide what they want to wear?

My knee-jerk response was going to be, "When people give up foolish religions..." But Germany is very much secular and has a large percentage of atheists/agnostics.

So, the answer is, I have no clue.

Not so much in the regions involved.

And having a "large percentage" of nonbelievers does not carry the issue - the question is what the rest of them are like.
When people give up affiliating themselves with religions that use items of clothing the way a motorcycle gang uses its colors.

Teachers are forbidden to wear gang colors in my local schools, for another example of such oppression.

    What is a gang color?

    Like short skirts and tattoos?

The problem with the headscarves is that they cause violence.

You know of any man who lost his job because what he wore/did not wear was controlled by opposing laws in two different places?

In fact is there any law that regulates the article of clothing for men?

It's an item of clothing - often a jacket of a particular design and motif, sometimes a shirt, occasionally (yes) a headscarf - that indicates membership in a gang.

You'll see signs in roadside bars, on the front door, that say "no colors". That's what they mean. They don't want trouble, and colors start fights.

If a male teacher wears them in the classroom of a Minneapolis public school, he can be dismissed from his job.

Interesting, SAM. And it points to one of my favorite subjects ....that women should never, ever, in all of history, been permitted a vote or an equal voice with males. It's done nothing but cause problems since almost forever!

Women should be at home taking care of the home and the kids.

What if we don't WANT kids?

Newsflash, idiot: it's not female decision making that starts wars and causes banking systems to crash.

It's not young women who are so addled by estrogen that they make dangerously foolish choices and kill themselves and others.

You can stay home and take care of the house and cook the meals for your husband. If you don't want a husband, then ....well, there's always becoming a whore if you're goodlooking enough. If they're ugly, then they can be barmaids or scullery maids.

If women had been at home taking care of the family and her husband, she could have alerted him that they couldn't afford that big, costly house. And the collapse would have been avoided all together.

As to wars: Those aren't bad things ...they keep the population under control.

But if they wear gang colors, then the opposing gangs might think they're in the gang and then cause trouble. See?

VI i like you alot but i hate to tell you, your dead wrong on both counts

    1) Margret Thature (enough said but if you want another example, sarah palin)

    2) for quite a few years now the gap between young men and women has been shrinking to the point that alot of insurance companies are concidering uping the price for an under 25 year old women to the same cost as for an under 25 year old man

Not to mention that males smoking has been stederly droping while smoking rates for women are increasing.

Binge drinking rates are reasonably consitant across the sexes as sadly are drink driving rates. Actually this one is WORSE for women because they are trying to match men drink for drink when all the medical litriture is saying that women's bodies cant process as much achole as mens can

So if a young man has 8 drinks and a young women does they are both binge drinking and will cause damage to their bodies but the damage to the womens body will be ALOT worse

Then there are the rates of drinking, smoking and illicit drug use during pregancy which definitly DO harm someone else (ie the child). No male equivlant to this oviously

    No weirder than most religions.

But the policy does not distinguish between those who belong to gangs and those who just like the style. It just recognizes that certain clothes, like certain words or phrases, have to be banned from any school that wants to focus on educating children.

You asked for an example - there's one of legion.
