Fuck it would be 18. I just don't see 3 generations getting pregnant in there late teens. And my mom taught me to be polite and respectful only to those who deserve it.

Actually, it looks like something you'd do. Which is why it needed doing.

I have always retracted my statements against a corrected statement. So your point is well nonexistent. and back on topic it just shows just how weak mccain and supports feel he is that they have to attack Obama for not laying of Mccain trying to flee from the shelling he has been getting on the economy.(thats not at you GeoffP unless of course you have done that)

    No,they didn't.

Already did - political grandstanding, in preparation for a Pres run, in support of a bill that he had determined had no chance, while hiring Freddie Mac lobbyists as close associates and advisers and campaign managers for the money and corporate backing needed in the coming campaign.

There is no shinier turd in Washington right now - the media haven't begun to shake off the past ten years of sycophancy and "straight talk" kissup that has hypnotized their coverage of John McCain.
The Dems have had a very small majority in the House, and a basic tie in the Senate, for about a year and a half.

Of course, lots of very educated people who have much more intimate knowledge than either you or I are on both sides of the fence in this argument. You prefer one side, I, the other. That's still no reason to start name calling people instead of providing real argument. The people handling each side are professional political hackers. They're hired to do a job. That job is to get their boss hired as President. None of them have many scruples when it comes down to a real fight if mud is needed. The principles have very, very little to do with it. If they did, they wouldn't need to hire the professionals that they all do hire.

Those same people are the ones who are responsible for tracking the thousands of data points that must be tracked during and after an election so as to keep everything as on track as possible. Conversations like "Sir, you can't do or say that because it goes against what you said in Dallas on the 17th of March four years ago." are very common among political hackers with their charges. If you don't understand how it really works in DC, you should read up on it. Personal opinions of the Candidates have very little to do with anything. They are instructed on almost every single thing they say or do. That goes for both sides.

The Platform is what is important. It can be bent, but never broken.

I've read a lot of your posts. I think you have a good head on your shoulders and you usually approach an issue with facts and a solid argument. I'd hate to see your style slip due to personal opinion into the mud, when much information about the real issues are there to discuss.

How each Candidate will react to various world pressures is paramount in my mind during this election. The current acts of some of the world leaders recently are adding a huge amount of importance to which party platform takes over the Oval Office. It's been some time since the West has been this close to what could be a major shift in world power.

The major players are all in the game now. The pushing has started. It's going to get very, very tense, very soon. The timing couldn't be more orchestrated if it were in a theater.

Why not just end party politics?

I haven't seen much correlation between "party platform" and actual official behavior. I doubt they matter much, as an indication of behavior in office.

Witness the recent bailouts, by a Republican administration.
So how come the mud is almost entirely being slung from the Republican side ? The disparity in mudslinging and media hackery is striking, and has been for many years now.

You'll also notice if you read back that I said nothing about "Party Platform". I was speaking of the individual platforms that every Candidate presents. Those platforms never parallel the party platform exactly. The Candidates individuality comes out in them.

If you think that the mud has only been slung from McCain's side, then you've not been watching very closely or you choose not to see. It depends on what you call mud as well. Would you like to quote a few? After seeing yours, I'll quote a few back to you. I don't have an accurate tally of either, and I doubt you do either. Please use exact quotes. Your interpretations of what someone else means when they say something isn't what I want to hear when I say "quote". Thanks.

Hey, I'm with you man! We'll end all wars, end all poverty and disease while we're at it!

It's one of those things that simply will never go away.

Well, Vote for Geoff and party politics will go away. Because we'll have just the one Party.

Also, free speech and individual property rights. Meh. You won't miss them, as you trudge the grimy streets in your one-fits-all-overalls.

I think he's hoping that he'll be seen as "noble" for this. At least that's what everyone's arguing in my political science class...

    Whatever. Same comments apply.
I mean pejorative lies. The ones from the Rep side once again, as usual, outnumber the ones from the Dem side by an order of magnitude.

I'd be interested if you could come up with even one about McCain, from the Obama side. We'll start with "secret Muslim", "won't swear on the Bible", "refuses to say the Pledge of Allegiance", "mandated sex education for five year olds", from the McCain side.

Hey, I'm not saying McCain is old, but when asked how he would conserve energy, he said "by taking three naps a day".

Considering that in polls on the economy obama has a triple the margin of error lead over mccain its appears that the American electorate disagree with you.

72% of those polled were Democrats, and half of those were black.
