I wonder if he was really any less distracting then all the 14 year old girls who come to school dressed like whores.

    Pastafarians can eat themselves

I'm just curious ... what are the holy texts of Pastafarianism?

Look, the FSM makes an excellent argument in its context—e.g., evolution and creationism—but beyond that, it's just a priggish joke that doesn't seem to have much use. Even in the creationism debate, though, it would have done just as well to cite Douglas Adams and insist that children be taught about the Great Green Arkleseizure. Or Clive Barker's Imajica, which includes John Furie Zacharias' encounter with the phallus of God.

The problem with the FSM concept, especially in this case, is that its vicious absurdity suggests that Pastafarianism is actually just about being hateful. It's sad when egotism trumps utility, but hey, if that's what's important to people, at least we know.

Remember, though, that in suspending the student, the school had to come up with some sort of reason. As much as it is probably true, you can't actually admit that you're suspending a student for being a priggish idiot. It's just ... well, it's just not professional, you know?

Pastafarianism is not about being hateful, it's about belief in the supernatural, and making that point very clear. Is there really any difference between wearing the pirate suit or wearing a Bhurka, based on the reasons given?

I'm planning on doing something similar to this, just, I can't find any fucking pirate outfits at my house, and my parents will never let me buy a pirate hat or something. This(the story) is an outrage. Oh? Only 10,000 followers? Mostly regarded as a joke(Scientology)? Not considered a religion to us.
