Fire Fighters On Strike

UK fire-fighters get: £21,500 they want it to go upto £30,000.

Thats 33,970 euros up to 47,400 euros & would be the same in US $ does any one know what US fire fighters get??
 
But the Police Force and people in the NHS have a huge pay compared to the firefighters!!

Might not be the worse crime rate in the world but its getting there,I think you will find violent crime is more in the UK than in the USA,& more PCs get hurt than firefighters do!
 
The government have admitted that they have planned all along to cut numbers and thats why they held out in the dispute.They were waiting for people to quit instead of making people redundant. Also Britain has more then twice as many firefighters per person compared to both Germany and France. I dont think firefighting number should be measured in this way however. What about average number of fires etc. I doesnt matter how many figher fighters there are per person if in one country people are 'more irresponsible' i.e. there are more housefires.
 
The government has wanted to moderise the fire stations and the job - this does include cuts in numbers - The fire fighters have refused to be moderised.
 
Thats what they were asking for just last week crunchy! They said that and then immediately after, i think, regretted it before there was even any reaction. How is this modernising anyway?? They are going to take part of the role of paramedic too i believe. Modersnising=more work then it seems. Its just a waiting game for the government.

What are you talking about, if you cant talk sence im not going to bother entertaining you. The government wants to modernise the job FACT, The fire fighters refused FACT. The thing i think you are taking about last week was an offer of 16% rise by the government but this is with modernising and would be spreadover some years - The firefighter's union rejected this offer because they dont want the job to be modernised.FACT.

You arent using sence, perhaps you dont have to pay tax at all? You dont understand that they pay rise will come out of tax money and will mean a raise in tax. Do you have any grasp on economics at all? It wont just come out of thin air you know. :)

The firefighters will not win, they are being illogical, there is no funds to raise their salarys and their job needs modernised.
 
Fire fighters want more money. Ok. Where is the politics? I want more money too.
