Xev; I think I might want a tattoo uh, too, but I find the problem isn't money, it's finding something important enough to me that I know I won't regret in 30 years....

I love piercings and I think they are quite decorative and add a certain something to any individual.
You should perhaps draw the line at the genital stuff. I see a lot of men with hoops and loops and bars and to my mind it just makes yer bollocks look like a disabled toilet.

As the bearer of numerous piercings and tattoos, I would like to jump in and stress how important this is. A tattoo should have meaning to you. If not, you might find yourself disliking it not 30 years down the pike, but often as soon as a year or two; I have seen it happen more than once. A regular piercing can disappear merely by removing the stud; removing a tattoo is an expensive and painful ordeal.

    Peace.

everyman and his dog has peicings, if this is cool and individual, so be it. I personally think it is tacky. Tatoos are awful things, they effect your job prospects and are permanent (common sence) so really consider long and hard if its a worth while thing to have done to your body. They are also sore and people will judge you if you have a tatoo. They are associated (at least in this country) with low life. Some of this is my opinion please dont flame me for it.

You would never know I had a tattoo unless I told you. If you so choose, they can be placed so that they are concealed in general, and would have no impact on your employment.
It is ALL your opinion; no flames, discussion is what it's all about!

Fact- Permanent. If you refuse to believe that an employer will take the guy plastered in tatoos to the guy not plastered in tatoos, so be it.
    also fact.
    also Fact.
    the rest is my opinion.

This is true, but you can also have them removed albeit a scar is left behind

Yeah ever heard of clothing? you can conceal most parts of the body. hence you can conceal tattoo's unless you are in a line of bussiness that require you to take off your clothes

    Whats clothing?

Yes, you can hide your tatoos, but if you have them on your neck or even on arms/hand/ fingers, your fucked. Also, if you pay all that money to have them done then hide them doesnt it kinda defeat the purpose? you get them to impress people or at least so people can see them.

nope, dont care what anybody thinks. Some people i know want a tattoo to show off, its the main reasoning behind getting them, despite if some people get them for nobody to see

For me, they are personal art - not for anybody else, with the possible exception of Mrs. Fish. People do see them, but not in the working environment.

SO true! I've two tattoo's and the only people who know of them are those i tell... it's really not that big of a deal

Also, a surprisingly LARGE amount of people don't even notice my nose ring :bugeye:
Many times people who I've seen and talked to everyday for months will suddenly look at me strange and exclaim "When did you get your nose pierced?"

tats are prolly more conceivable then piercings even (apart from the fact that you can't remove the tattoo for a little while), i would prolly never have piercings (although it can change). I love tattoo's though.

    [sub]specially girls with a few tats[/sub]

I also want a tatoo, and I can imagine how it must look -

no fancy picture- just an ornament - a line which has black squares on it which goes from my left upper shoulder (with some artistic lines at that place) along with upper part of the torso and ends reaching my right shoulder
