Ah well there's always the odd loony.
I knew a guy that was refused entry to the British army because his sole declared reason for joining up was to kill Russians (during the Cold War days of course...)

If you hate freedom so much why don't you go join Al Qaeda and blow yourself up in a crowd of Iraqi school girls?

I'm not talking about culture. It was government style and attitudes toward authority, government, and nation in both countries that were similar.

Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere (in other words, the Japanese plan to create an empire including all of eastern Asia). And the Japanese during World War II were just as much into racial superiority as the Germans. Racism against the Chinese was extremely common; the Japanese believed that the Chinese were something less than human. There was a joke in Japan about the difference between a "chink" and a pig. The answer: at least pigs are good for eating. If you don't believe all of this, research the Rape of Nanking or the treatment of Chinese in Singapore.

Iris Chang's book "The Rape of Nanking" is an especially informative, in-depth, and interesting source.

Arguably the Pacific War, in as much as Japan initiated hostilities, which implies an intent to see America burn (and with it her freedoms).

More specifically, the Civil War (with different rationales on both sides).

    Unified? 1812.

Well that is very uncommon in society. You should be glad he didnt decide to kill you and bury you in the woods. I bet he though about it though.

Sure, and the Nazis probably had similar thoughts about the Japanese.

Oh that is very true. The funny thing is that the Japanese love Americans now and so do the Germans...as far as i can tell. But the Chinese dont seem to care for us. Cant explain that.

Once again, its similar government systems. Germany and Japan now have democratic governments. China is communist. Also, we don't get along with the Chinese too well because of human rights and the Taiwan issue.

By the way, the China of today is not the same China of World War II. There was a Civil War and the Chinese Nationalists (our allies) were defeated by the communists in 1949. Just in case you didn't know.

Many years ago I joined the royal marines - back then we hadn't had any proper conflict for years - apart from some bother in northern ireland - the reason I joined was that you got to do fun stuff like skiing, mountaineering, scuba diving, hoon around in speedboats, and occasionally blow shit up

I was discharged on medical grounds 2 weeks before I finished basic training, as I sustained "self-inflicted injuries" (a broken wrist, fractured cheekbone, and 3 broken ribs) when I punched a superior officer

I'm glad I never made it now as I probably would have been in the gulf within 2 years

KMT had far superior numbers, weapons, money and support yet they got their ass kicked by a few Commi's with machetes and ww1 rifles. Same how Iran kicked out pro-US leaders in 1979, Hamas taking over Gaza which is supported by USA, Hezbollah taking over half of Lebanon from Pro-American government. Is USA support a curse or something?

Actually, the Communist Party had been in Yan'an spreading propaganda and gaining adherents while the government was fighting the Japanese. By the time the Civil War broke out again, although the KMT still outnumbered the CCP, all of the KMT's best-trained and best-equipped troops had been killed fighting the Japanese. And the Communists were supplied with a bunch of modern weapons by the Soviet Union.

Also, they didn't "get their ass kicked." True, they were forced to retreat to Taiwan, but at the Battle of Kuningtou in 1953, the Communists "got their ass kicked" by Taiwan when they tried to invade.
