Maybe bio-fuels from the field (plants) are not a longterm option against global warming, because it will increase the international prices of food.

Carbon-dioxid should be extracted from atmosphere and split into other chemical components, maybe synthetic oil, in a way this production is not concurrent to food production.
Why not reform CO2 or bicarbonate acid (the gaz that is added into the lemonades), into oxygen and coal or oil, either in the desert, or underwater in the sea in large closed-circuit catalyzers?
I'm sure that in 15 or 20 years, bio- or nano-technology could do this at commercial level, if commercial interest is sufficient for investment in that type of research. But i'm afraid that interest is not, as long as it's still cheaper and profit-raising to simply take the oil out of the earth, whatever consequences for coming generations.

Bio-fuels are proof that regardless of the logistics behind proposed new ideas, they (gov)are going to throw money at them.
If you work in the field I would suggest you work on some trademarks. Might as well be on the receiving end if you can.

um if you split all the CO2 you wouldnt have oil, you would either have ALOT of pencils or you would have a lot of dimonds

    Not "split", reform CO2

    >um if you split all the CO2 you wouldnt have oil, you would either have ALOT of pencils or you would have a lot of dimonds

Of course. I was not precise. I should have written "recombine CO2 with water" and create hydrocarbons plus oxygen,
    (with solar energy)

Energy- the simple fact is that what you propose will take huge amounts of energy, and thus not be possible.

    energy amount

    >Energy- the simple fact is that what you propose will take huge amounts of energy, and thus not be possible.

Of course if you try to construct such catalytic systems in a clasic way industrially like semiconductor photovoltaic cells, the energy balance would be bad.

    But my ideas are about

Either bio-technological tissues, maybe genetically derived from algues, growing like vegetables or algues, using solar energy as well for producing fuels or hydrogen, as well as for "growing" (duplicating) themselves.

The second idea is about anorganic, also self-constructing nano-technology for fuel / hydrogen producing systems. Compare it to natural christal growing process.

The difference with classic bio-diesel, ethanol and so on is, that no agro-surfaces on earth should be used up for it. The energy conversion should be done where agriculture is not possible. These technologies should be implemented either underwater in the oceans, or in deserts, where irrigated with partly demineralized (also with solar energy and classic demineralizing process as today) water from the the oceans.

Humanity cannot afford using up agricultural ressources, or destroy rainforest to have additional surfaces, for bio-fuels.

We're already using something like 40% of the net plant productivity of the earth surface. Things are much, much tighter than people realise. Even using deserts, we require the physical reactor plant, and sufficient of it to mimic the effects of hundreds of square miles of ocean. By the time said pipes etc have been made, we'll be waaayyyy past any point of no return.

There is a process for growing algae that makes oil. Seems to me that you could just grow food and use human or animal power.
