It is often mentioned on various websites, and here in many discussions, that it is possible for things to exceed the speed of light, but not possible for information to be transmitted greater than lightspeed.

So, can people please list for me experiments or effects which are known to exceed C? I am trying to come up with some spaceflight ideas for a science-fiction story, and I thought I'd best try to find something at least partially feasible.

there is info about a test with $500 eqipment that send a signal over 120 metres with 4 billion kph here

I must say that this technology is not able to send information at faster than light (FTL) speed, as the second 'pulse' will emerge also if the first one isn't initated completely (i.e. stopped halfway). That ain't a well explanation, but a friend of mine that is promovating on the string theory told me it that way...

    hope it helps!

    Hi,

This is nit picking but might be useful. Albert did not say you cannot travel faster than light, what he showed was that you can not accelerate to the speed of light. This means you may be able to go from less than light speed to more than light speed, so long as you dont spend any time at light speed. look up Tachyons.

So if you want to go from here to there. It may be that you cant get there while visiting the bits in between at faster than the speed of light. But that still leaves taking a short cut through a worm hole. Or genie like disappear somewhere and appear somewhere else so long as you dont bother the bits in between.

Not what you asked, but maybe thoughts for you and others.
