Ultimately morality is up to the individual.

No unfortunately it is you who have misinterpreted these passages. In fairness to you, it was what you were told to believe it meant. You just never thought to question it.

    Incorrect.

    Read some history some time.

While it is true that theistic civilizations did codify behaviour, their particular systems were derived from a theistic system, subject to whatever 'divine law' (sic) was relevant.
If you actually study the development of contemporary legislation, you will discover one common motif: the separation of legislation from any religious system of behavioural control.
Ever heard of the 'separation of church and state'?
    Or, say, 'justice is blind'?
Even the pre-Socratic Greeks realized that legislation cannot be derived from the rules their 'gods' had laid out; it would be too spurious, inconsistent and illogical.

It's called the Principle of Verification (which happens to be the source of just about everything you happen to enjoy in the Western World..).

    Nice.

Isn't it sad how the programmed don't realize they have been programmed to not realize they have been programmed?

Glaus, yes they were made with an "indifferent" system , but don't you think those that made them still believed in their Gods??? I said they were made BY THEISTS , not atheists, not made for specific theist beliefs.

We will never know the truth then if you keep talking in riddles. What am i lying about? And why would i lie to you? Personally i believe your thinking is too regimented, too linear.

Fair enough, your last sentence is correct; those who established the codes were indeed theists. But recognize that what is of particular importance here is that, despite the fact that these people did believe in some form of deity, the nevertheless realized that it was their responsibility to devise a system of behavioural control and that any system that could be derived from the religious system was bound to cause significant problems.

What's of greater concern for me here however, is your usage of the term "indifferent".
Atheist in no way implies indifferent.
Given the atheistic concern for logic and impartiality, how further from indifferent could one get??

John99, don't waste any more time on this post. Some of these new "non-believers" of anything have absolutelly nothing to really argue about , except that " if you can't logically walk on water than how could you possibly believe in that crap" .
Wait till their time comes when they have that "need" for faith, and let's hope it's not too late for them . Good night all.

    lol

    Not at all.

Unlike a theist, i have nothing I cannot question; nothing I cannot support.
    Ergo, no programming.

Hey, I have no problems with those sheep that choose to stay in the Matrix.
Just with those that try to argue with those who have woken up.........

How many Sun worship clues would it take for you to even consider the possibility that Judaism/Christianity/Islam are veiled Sun worship? I would imagine at this point there isn't a number high enough. I have been dropping clues to this effect all over the forum, and yet not one of you theists has even given it a consideration. You are too set in your assumed beliefs to see the obvious. Perhaps when you have grown sick of the bullshit you are fed you will stop and explore the possibility.

Look I'm not saying "believe me, I have all the answers", I'm saying "hey think about what I said, and prove me wrong if you can". Is that too much to ask?

"walk on water" is a metaphor for the Sun rising and setting over water!
