ok... after the "day of the pop up", i accidentally deleted some things i shouldn't have, at first. only kazaa wouldn't work. then, Iexplorer wouldn't let me play dominoes anymore.

. it told me i had to upgrade. well.. i had nothing to upgrade to.. so, i tried getting rid of explorer, and downloading a new one. same thing over and over again. and it still wont work. so im giving up on fixing it and finding a number 3 browser to use for games. (i also have opera, but it doesn't understand the words "java applet". sooooooo....
any suggestions?

Most peer-to-peer file sharing apps will come pre-coded with spyware.. little proggies which sit in the background, quietly shuffling through your files, and then sending the information back to someone, usually advertising companies, about who you are, where you live, what websites you visit, and so on. Rather insidious really, but nothing we havent all come to expect. they clog up your bandwidth, too, and eventually you will see a noted decrease in system performance... firstly internet speed, and eventually startup and general operation. startup especially, because every time you turn on your computer, windows will automatically start running these little proggies in the background, thereby using valuable resources. win98 users will see that the computer tried to connect to the internet every time it starts up... because all the spyware is telling it to connect. and once you get on... pop ups, junk email, you name it. They're onto you....

Kazaa comes pre-loaded with such spyware that it will in fact not run at all without it. If you download, for example, Ad-Aware or its like and clean out the spyware, Kazaa will stop working. Peer-to-peer file sharing is, morally correct or not, illegal and unpoliced. these ad companies have a field day with you every time you use them.

Do yourself a favour... buy or download yourself an internet cleanup program (adaware 5.8 is good, for a freebie) or get a decent firewall. run it, defrag your drive(s), then get Kazaa lite (supposedly spyware free) from somewhere, if you absolutely must use it. There are others which will still run with the spyware eradicated though... morpheus is one I can think of immediately.

awww.. figures.... netscape navigator is currently installing its ugly slow self onto my puter, cuz im having withdrawls from dpminoes.... but hey.. atleast i know where the uninstall icon is for this one. lol.

yes, it is netscape, just the open source one. Now they are coming up with Phoenix, but only ver. 0.2.

Also, if you're using adaware, you should try to update the sig files, just like you're updating the *.dat files for anti-virus software.
