Regular every day people that deny it even though it is quite obviously true? That indicates it is most likely intentional misinformation, and you can imagine why someone would be intentionally lying about something like this.

Sure, many Russians think that he was a great leader and did no wrong.
Many are also saying that he liberated not occupied the countries of Eastern Europe.

And while it is prohibited to tout Nazi symbols, nobody objects to Soviet symbols being printed on t-shirts, etc.

Our previous president met with huge protests from Russia and Germany when she said that Soviet crimes were just as big as the Nazi Germany ones.
    Hypocrisy.

I guess I put these deniers right there with people who think the moon landings never happened.
Why would they stand firm, in face of all proof, that it never happened?

-Because fanatical nationalism organically requires symbols, and instinctively abhors their compromise. Similarly, the staunchest supporters of President Bush and his particular brand of nationalism will vehemently deny wrongdoing on the part of their own standard-bearer.

We should probably lock up anyone who says anything which hurts any Jew's feelings. Just to be safe about it.

If holocaust denial is so absurd, then it will surely be seen as such. If it is not so absurd then it is a proper subject for debate. The ignorant and malevolent are going to believe whatever they want to anyway and banning discussion gives credence to paranoia and conspiracy theory.

Would a possessor of such thoughts be unable to fault the current situtation? "Look how vile the jews are that they would ban discourse on the subject. Claiming to be the victims of facism and yet burning books".

    I don't think so.

The problem is that people who feel they have no connection with the Jews might feel aggrieved that the subject is given so much weight in their country/culture.

Then they might start asking questions why.
