£150 which GFX card?

    I've got about £150 to spend on a card what should I get?

    I'm not worried about the latest games on top setting. But I would like to be able to Crysis when it comes out. Would also like to play HD movie files. I'm running Vista on a dual core.

    Any ideas?

    If you are running a 64-Bit architecture then make sure you pickup a 64-Bit card (with compatible Vista drivers) otherwise you could have hell with a new card. A post on a Beta forum suggested that one poor guy had gone out of his way to purchase a new GFX card for the Beta test and well it's drivers weren't compatible with his OS, so he couldn't play the Beta with it. Instead he had to revert back to his old GFX that played the beta fine.

    Important things to take into account with GFX:
    • The number of pipelines (Important for Vector rendoring in realtime)
    • Card's built in VRAM amount and Speed of it's BUS. (Important for Vector, Mipmap, Shading and Texture processing)
    • Does the card have it's own mounted fan/cooling system (Will consume more energy if it does)
    • As previously mentioned driver compatibility.

    Thanks for the advice. In the time I have posted this I had to spend the money on something else. Oh well, re-saving is already underway
