in case i turn into an insane money spender or ruin our marriage somehow
same as I'm protecting myself against him becoming a drunk asshole full of debts... like i said in the post above before you edited, neither of us can predict the future

we're going to buy stuff together and put both our names in contracts and stuff... each of us has their own private accounts and we have a joint account... we're also going to have a separate fund for children

i dont see what's so terrible about it...

I think your post shows extreme ignorance. Marriage is a life contract, it is not something get into without any caution like that... unless you're an idiot

So why do you need a pre nup if you're never going to divorce him?

Nothing wrong. If they refuse to marry because they have to sign a prenup, thats one hurdle crossed early.

I can see why you'd think they're ubiquitous in North America. It's especially prevalent along my community in Southern California....namely expensive areas such as Orange County and Los Angeles.

Some of them "act" like airheads to either fit in and try to be cute to draw attention, or have been spoiled to death by their rich parents that they've had everything done for them since birth and thus, cannot even think for themselves. They don't have much care for the world (if anything) because they always have their mom & dad's money to fall back on without ever having to do one day of real work. L.A. socialite and whore Paris Hilton was exposed when she participated in a "Vote or Die" campaign, and it was later revealed that she hadn't even voted, let alone even registered.

    It's sad really.

But don't generalize and assume that most/all North Americans are like this. There are many of us who are intelligent and well-educated.

That was painful to watch. I didn't make it through more than around 10 to 15 seconds.
To start, her voice had this piercing treble sound like a bat, or Alvin and the chipmonks or something.
Then there was the way she talks - she sounds like she's been doing nitrous balloons, or sniffing glue or something. She sounds very wobbly and ditsy. She also appears to carry herself like an infant-- I think she believes it makes her look cute.

There's also something sorta toxic about her. She looks like one of those hair/nails/accessories people that wears a bunch of bright makeup, and lots of loud perfume.

If this is her real personality (and not internet comedy) then I would be very afraid. If I met her in real life, I would probably avoid her.

I don't want to argue any of the keynotes in her youtube entry. Her notions are so ludicrous that it doesn't merit putting any effort into taking her seriously. That would be like debating the things said by someone who recently had surgery, and is coming out of heavy anesthesia ---- you understand the person is not in their right mind, so you just sort smile and nod and humor them.

You said, a few lines up, that marriage is for life; yet here you are implying that maybe you will divorce him after all. Do you not sense that you're contradicting yourself? As far as I understand, if you're not sure whether you will need a divorce, you don't know this person well enough or are not sure about your own feelings, so you shouldn't marry yet.

I think she's just putting on a show. These type of women are in reality, very rare...

Most women that I interact with are not stupid whores.

No, I dont think I am contradicting myself at all. We are not expecting to ever need this prenup... it's like an insurance... when you insure your car, do you go and crash it?

No, when you insure a car you know that you might crash it (and that's perfectly reasonable). When you get a prenup you know that you might get a divorce. When you say that marriage is for life you say that you won't get a divorce no matter what and, if you got married in a church, that's what your vow really was.

I don't think you are in position to judge my level of commitment to my husband, or his level of commitment to me, based on nothing but the fact that we married under prenup. This is in fact, ridiculous.
This is not a matter of trust, it is a matter of covering ourselves for things we simply cannot predict.
I find it absurd that you and other people here, who are supposed to be reasonable people, an intelligent comunity, can be so prejudicial over an act of caution.

Do you really think you can determine the future by promising things? Nothing bad will happen, because you said a magic spell?
