It's a little...sparse? I mean, it's good that it is straight-forward and easy to navigate, but maybe you could spice it up a little...? Perhaps pop a little Flash in there, some tables or graphics... I think another colour would be better, too.

Maybe something clean and functional, yet hip, like a steel toilet.

It's a website for a library. How can I possibly make it more exciting without making it misleading?

    Very functional.

Why do you have a big ass JPEG as bg when a "#xxxxxx" or colour name would do?

You could valign the big image so that it appears in the middle of the page. On my screen (1280x1024) it appears at the top.

Also you need some text based navigation or some descriptive alt tags for the LHS navigation.

The style on the links page is really nice, so you should use that on all the pages.

You could also wrap the paragraphs so you don't get one loooong line on the higher resolutions

How long have you been doing web design? I'm not a big fan of frames though. Very unprofessional in my opinion. I'm also getting some JS page errors.

Thank you Voodoo Child for the high-resolution troubleshooting. Even though everyone else in the universe uses 600x800, I'll fix it.

To Northwind: You have to admit, it's better looking than the previous website.

Just a note in design, anything you want available to search engines or bots (like the google one) you need to have the information in normal text tags.

This means the Address of the library isn't viewable via the bot, so if I searched the address, it might not find it in a search engine.

Frames can be a problem, someone one complained to me when I use to use them because WEBTV can't deal with them. (I wouldn't have known though since WEBTV is really a US thing)

You might find your colour scheming a little off, you might think of a new chat up line suddenly by asking female people "What colours do you think I should use for my website?".

(I say that, beause if they get stuk just point at the page and say, "This is the frock, now what colour would be the matching shoes?")

My personal method of Wrapping paragraphs is to put them in hidden tables, and make the table a particular size. This means the text will always fit to that sized table (no matter your sreen size) but at least it looks neat.

There are ways to have the browser detected on load for screen size and browser type this an be useful to make a few alterations so on a small sreen you utilise all the room and a larger one you don't make it look too shoddy.

Of course if you get too stuck for colour coding you ould beg Bebelina to help you or Avatar

Well a simple improvement might be to make the border between the frames invisible. A little more modern, clean cut ya know.

    also, just one suggestion.....

make the hyperlinks open to _New Window not _Parent Frame. That way your site wont disappear when they click on one of the links...... because people are too STUPID to hit the back button.

    don't use frames- they suck.
make a table of 2 collums instead

    How about ...

Here's a cool place which would give you all the info you need to add some modifiable/customized Javascript tags:
    <a href="http://javascript.internet.com/navigation/">http://javascript.internet.com/navigation/</a>.

It has things such as how to do rollover images (multiple), drop-down stylish menus, and just general ways to add a little kick to your website (and the code is heavily commented). Definitely worth a look-see.

    Good luck!
