I don't use Media Player, I use quicktime and Real Player for videos and I use Winamp for music. Thanks to Avatar, I am now longer using MSN (YAY)

How many Mac and Linux users have we got here?

I did a poll on that stuff, not many people came. Linux and most accessories are free online.

I don't buy their products unless necessary, or a good reason behind it.

In the case of me getting FrontPage XP, it has better compatibility with IE web based programming than Dreamweaver, and is about half the price - the only reasons I got it. Maybe not necesaarily half the price depending on where you shop, but definitely less expensive.

I use MSN Messenger because it is the best IM service out there IMO.

I take the time to properly tweak my system, meaning delete all of their spyware, limit my vcache on Windows 98 since it is so sloppy about memory managment, go into my registry to remove unwanted programs that load when Windows starts, generally things that will just unnecessarily comsume syste resources. I take the time, and often it is alot of time (like hours), to keep my PC healthy; and much of that time is spent getting rid of microsoft garbage.

I try to avoid their products when I can, when there is another alternative that will do what I want. But let's face it on this issue, Milkshape cost about $20, 3D Studio Max 4 R costs over a thousand.

Front Page sucks and you can do a lot more with Dreamweaver- it's harder, but I think it's worth it

You apparently know nothing of Trillian

I'm not sure I agree with you on FrontPage.

I know of Trillian and I DO NOT want to use it.

I'm not anti-MS at all really. I use Windows XP at home and Windows 2000 at work. I code in Java for Solaris platforms at work. I've done a little .NET so I'm using VS.NET for that. I do run a Linux server at home for my website. I guess I'd say I use the best tools for the job.

    Well said compiledmonekey.

Microsft makes the best software, but not always the best value software.

and as for the spyware, who cares?!? If you are not doing anything wrong.

Well, you've got one Mac user here anyway running OS X. I started liking Mac before Os X but X made it more desirable to switch.
My only complaints would be that the best p2p they got so far is Gnutela. I would like to see kazaa for X. The other being, that the games are not as frequent. the platform is fine to game on but the releases are not current enough. Warcraft III was their first simultaneous release with PC, there is hope!

If you want some MS bashing to pass around, I just saw this today. You have to see it. rotfl

I believe Microsoft may possibly be a front company for the CIA. Don't ask me why I think this or how I know. Lets just say it's a guess. An educated guess.

    Buffer overflow sounds benign enough...

If I was the US intelligence community, I'd try to work out a deal with the producers of a product as widely used as Windows, for back doors to peoples' data. Just like if I was the Chinese opposites I would be involved in the creation of their new operating system.

Windows is a back door to peoples' data with its crap security. I seriously doub't that they are in with the CIA, perhaps just "sponsored" to keep putting out ridiculous software so they can get access to computers.

Why the hell would MS want good security on windows? They want to leave open a back door thru which they can funnel stuff about your own private life, the slimy rats.

Use Red Hat Linux, it's very good. If you don't want to bother developing the skills or making some sacrifices for Linux you don't deserve anything better than Windows. That's the bottom line. If you're too stupid to use Linux, go suck Bill Gates' ass.

Cmon, the comp user community has to stick together if we want to defeat MS. I long for the day I will see MS go up in flames, the stone and plaster of its building reduced to smouldering ashes, and stinky flies buzzing around Gates' decayed corpse, covered with blood, vomit and semen.

How anti MS am I? Let's just say I dream about Bill Gates screaming and gurgling inside an iron maiden slooooooowly closing in on him, every inch of his filthy skin branded with the MS logo.
