What is it when a person convinces themself that some false reality is the truth because they can't face the true situation?

um, delusional disorder NOS? It could also be schizotypal personality disorder, schizophrenia, or a hypomanic phase of bipolar disorder. Or even just plain denial.... lol.

Thanks for the help. Yes, it's delusional disorder I was looking for. I know someone who is suffering from this. Their condition is perfectly described here:

Now if I can just figure out how to make them accept the truth.

I think that I do need advice from someone who knows what they are talking about. I know someone who really has a delusional disorder of a persucutory type. How is this kind of thing treated? Does this person need professional help?

Everyone needs help one way or another. Delusional disorder? What is the root of this disorder? What are its symptoms?
What usually helps is a change of place, so if this person was to be moved to another country with totally different believes...he/she might change.

    psyching people also works.
