i read in the newspaper today, that some guy in france who is a civil servant has only a tiny thin bit of brain tissue. apparently most of the space inside his skull is taken up by a liquid substance. surrounded by a minute bit of brain tissue. he has an IQ of only 70 but is not nearly considered mentaly retarded and works normaly. he is about 44 years old and lives in some part of france. i havent seen reference on the net yet, but i read it in todays newspaper. "the london paper". apparently it has confused scientists (for obvious reasons) because he basicaly doesent have a brain lol. but is completely conscious and functional. i would appreciate if somebody could provide an in depth link describing this case. peace.

lol not far off Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!, this guy hardly has a brain and he has an IQ of 75+. he is nearly US president material. peace.
75 IQ with such a tiny brain? I wonder if he were trained he could reach an average IQ? All that extra brain that we have is for the 'luxury' functions? I wonder how well he does specific stuff such as math, or if he is capable to learn stuff at a normal speed.
Is that true? It would explain a lot. I like Bush, but the reason why he is President of the most powerful country on Earth is a complete mystery to me. I have no prejudice against people of lower intelligence by the way, but a modern world leader needs to understand a great deal.
Most of the brain’s functionality is in the surface. It would be interesting to know the total surface area of this brain. I don’t think that it would be much smaller then normal.
I have always been of the opinion that brain-size was of great importance. Certainly the largest-headed man I ever knew was also a sagacious man of great learning in several different fields. Have you noticed that palaeontologists pay great attention to brain size in various anthropoid and proto-human skeletal remains, assuming it to be a significant determinant of intelligence -- but no one these days dare voice the opinion that women are on average 16% less intelligent than men? Of course, IQ tests (which never include map-reading for example) are biased to disguise this difference. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Where did you get that from about Bush's IQ. According to this its much higher http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=292960
seems like more than his IQ would have been affected. How was his speech, motor skills, visions, etc?
Yet, it must be taken seriously because of its correlation with g and the many things it predicts. Individually, it might not mean much, especially if you're dealing with normal people, but if you give it a longview, you can see how it is indeed an important number. If you look at what IQ predicts in terms of demography, you'd be shocked at how well IQ pins people down. I know you think "what is iq lol? its stupid n meaningles." But it's not. If you bother to do a little reading and try to really understand it, you'll see it's something to be taken seriously.
Look up hemispherectomy. People have half their brains removed in this procedure, and the other half takes over most functions. Often, the plasticity of the brain is overstated by its fans, but there is something to it.
