Hope you enjoyed my star charts. The comet is very dim now so I decided to remove the pictures from my server to save disc space. If anybody wants another chart post a message here and I will be happy to create one.

I went ahead and updated the Comet S4 Linear star chart for Sunday evening. Last night I spotted it using 20X60 binoculars. Estimated magnitude was 5.0 to 7.0 making it much dimmer than was earlier predicted. I detected only a faint "fuzzy cotton ball". I did not see a discernable tail.

The comet has probably reached maximum brightness and will dim rapidly in the next several nights but unexpected flair-ups do happen and it bears watching.

Hi there, I went to the road by the farms(zero light pollution) tonight in North America. I didn't see anything like Comet Linear. Ok, I'm new to this hobby. I can tell the major constellations. UMA was there. Didn't think the comet would be that far from UMA. Every website has their own position of the comet.

    Thanks for the charts, though.

Oh yes, I brought a pair of 7x35 binos. Seriously though, looking at the stars with naked eyes is more comfortable. By the way, I heard the comet looked like an exclamation mark. I don't expect much from it. But it'd be rewarding for a newbie.

I appreciate your going through all the trouble.

    No trouble at all.

BTW: I just got a message saying the comet may be breaking up so you better go out tonight and take a look. You may see one, two, or no comets but have fun looking.

Just got this from another source:

"The nucleus of comet Linear has fragmented totally and the comet is disappearing quickly. An official announcement will go out tonight in a IAU Circular. The observations tonight with the 1m telescope in La Palma are very conclusive".
