Hey this is free thoughts. Hey Joeman, if Tyler wants to have a serious discussion about this site then Tyler should have posted the subject at SITE FEEDBACK. As far as you calling anyone else an idiot, why don't you take a second look at you quotes. You first call another poster an idiot, then apologize for what you consider to be a fact. If anything, Joeman, you actually prove the ironic statements and certainly do show your true intelligence. If you will take just a little bit of time to read, Joeman, you might want to check out many of the very old posts that have been made in FREE THOUGHTS, If you have the attention span. If you ever do check out the much older posts at FREE THOUGHTS, Joeman, you will certainly find that the old Sci-posters have been "soiling" this particular area since the very first thread. If anything, Free Thoughts has been hijacked by people who don't know where to address their threads.

The intention of this thread was to shock a little better attitude into the site. I believe, as do some others I have spoken to, that the quality has improved in the past while from what it had been. Whether or not my thread had anything to do with it is questionable, but plenty of people read this and I consider that a plus.
Tyler - In response to your original post: Obviously I don't know what sciforums "used to be", but I think it's important for a forum to have a bit of colloquiality, joking etc, thought I agree that they shouldn't just degrade into all jpokes, no discussion etc. For what it's worth, if this forum was ultra serious, looong posts of deep discussion, I probably wouldn't've joined. While I'm up for discussion, (IMO) it's too deep, and doesn't work too well over the net if taken to seriously. Do you thin, since you posted this thread, that it's got at all better? Maybe it's just ... I dunno, summer, or holidays or somehting, and people are feeling lazy? A trend that happens every few months/years? Or just an influx of non-intellectual newbies? I am actually a little surprised by the tolerance of the mods, but I also suspect, the modding they do do, I don't notice. Which is good, I guess. I think this place is good for discussion, interesting, applicable subjects, but there do admittedly seem to be a few conversation threads (though I guess it's up to the mods how many?) So that Firefly is aware, the thread, along with many others is checked regularly. This is Free Thoughts, a such the moderating should be light here, in this forum. Heavy moderation means controlled thought and limited posts. Sometimes it may be necessary but I would prefer not to do that unless there is little choice. I also dislike moderating another's forum. I guess the main thing you should know it is looked at.

Free thoughts The only real moderating/censoring of Free thoughts that has ever been done, has to do with extremely abusive and vulgar language, or personal attacks on fellow members. Pornography/nudity is also unacceptable. Unless there is a really good reason or someone sends a report to the moderator, Free thoughts is just that. BTW.. Site feedback has been a very active area in the past.
