Yes, but you forget. We don't care what the rest of the world thinks. So hate us all you want. What, do you think we're a bunch of little girls who are going to stay up all night crying because nobody likes us? We are what we are. Take it or leave it.

first were not the greatest nation in the world the fact that we always say we are is in fact a large part of why were not. what about the homeless people i'm almost positive they don't have everything they want or need. we want to be strong econically compared to other nations and were not. our freedoms are limited not much but they are. can't scream fire in a crowed theater. people are trying to do away with alot of our choices. then why haven't we accomplish catching bin laden. um what about the amazon or the great barrier reef those are awe inspiring and not in the us angel falls isn't either. we a an aragont prick for a president who cares only for the extreme upper crust of us people. we are accually kind of lame.

The answer is typically evident by the nature of the responses of the americans. It's arrogance that devolves into narrowmindedness and a us versus them attitude towards the whole world. Americans blame the world and jealousy as the reason but they engendered and fostered it because that's what they want while pretending otherwise or feigning indifference.

They want so much to be admired which means they are immature and freaky as if they've never had a taste of being admired. For instance, when I take myself as an example, I am not as obsessed about patriotism like americans are. You have to be shallow and on the stupid side to believe a nation defines you mostly rather than as a human being.

The most stupid post of all was the typical response of 'other nations' who don't have a whole lot to talk about except hating america and don't have lives. It's not that they are talking about america and thinking about america. Of course they have lives and love thier country and culture. It proves most americans are rude, arrogant, shallow and last but not least very stupid and that's why they are hated or more disliked. I don't like them either but it ain't nowhere near jealousy, I don't like thier annoying attitude and unevolved cultural awareness and personality. It's literally noxious being around most americans, in my opinion.

I'm sorry, but if you wish to make such generalisations, your current survey method is as woefully inadequate as 15ofthe19's.

"They want so much to be admired."

    FALSE.

If we wanted to be admired we would be sucking up to everyone instead of kicking some terror @ss. We would be concerned what EU et all think about us. WE DON'T.

Britain is our ally. They saw the same evidence against Saddam and Iraq as we did. They want to stop terror too.

Blair said he was proud to stand by the U.S. since the 911 terror attacks. "I admire him as a president and I regard him as a friend," the outgoing prime minister said.
Blair, noting that he could hear anti-war demonstrators outside the White House, defended anew his decision to join the U.S. and go to war in Iraq even though it has proven unpopular in both countries.

Even if people disagree with remaining in Iraq until victorious, "at least people understand that there is a battle we are fighting around the world today. ... You don't win those battles by being a fair-weather friend to your ally."

Why don't all you silly people get real for a change? Like/dislike/love/hate are ALL very subjective concepts. The average American is just like the average Brit, Swede, Indian, Russian or whatever. They are concerned with providing for their families and keeping the bills paid - nether they or anyone else on that list cares much (if at all!) about how all the others see them. In fact, I seriously doubt that any given individual (except for the politicians) even bother to think how they appear to the world. We've all got much more important fish to fry than be concerned by such trivial matters.

The whole purpose of this thread is nothing more than an attempt to start sensless arguments. I, for one will not stoop so low. I've said my piece and now I'm done with it.

Hell, if we all did that, there'd be no more sciforums ...it would die for lack of interest! ...LOL!

So are all of the other threads ...what's so new about this one that you happened to pick it? If you check any thread on this site, you'll see that they're virtually all intended to arouse our emotions, and thus arguments, and thus conflict and hatred.

I LOL at the people who voted "jealous of America's freedom".

The question is all wrong. Besides a few terrorists (e.g. Al Qaida), I don't think many people in the world hate America, per se. They don't hate the people of America. I think they just despise the American government. It's not like American people don't hate many foreign governments either.

Many countries have as many freedoms as America does (sometimes even more), but they still mistrust the US government.

The US is simply doing what other world's powers did in the past (and failed) - trying to expand and protect it's businesses and transactions worldwide, even at the expense of other nations. It's a natural process that's going to fail years from now.

Maybe someday, Peta, we Americans can be like you and not love our country. If only we are deep and smart enough!!!!

But tell me, what country are you from? I notice that you are so unpatriotic that you didn't bother to list your country in your profile.

From what I have seen and heard, many Americans themselves do not like the same things about their government that many other people dislike.

Americans are not from another planet after all, its just that most of them do not know very much about their government policies; this is not just true for Americans of course, there are people like that in all countries, but in other countries, it rarely has international consequences.
