Well how else do you make the small countries understand that they are not in position to decide whether to allow US military installations to proliferate or not. How else? But not fear. Thats all these people understand. They got this grudge against the past Soviet Union and now they are taking it all out on Russia. They are not on position to take out their hate...because their hate is nothing when it questions the security of the nation.
I disagree with your perception of U.S. intentions. But I've no doubt that your feelings are sincere, and are apparently shared by many Russians. Nationalism is apparently on the rise in Russia. Putin's increasingly authoritarian tactics only seem to be increasing his popularity. Nostalgia for the "good old days" of the Soviet empire seems to be increasing. These are dangerous developments, and they call for careful diplomacy. Dismissing Russian concerns, and proceeding full speed ahead with missile deployment would be a very bad idea in my opinion. Unless the idea is to provoke them on purpose, in order to assure a new cold war. That would make many in the U.S. arms industry very happy.
there are no authoritarian tactics by putin...this is all how it is perceived by the paid off media. And yes I see this as being done on purpose, so that military sale will rise again.
Controlled by whom ? Is America prompting the old Warsaw Pact Soviet satelites to join the EU ? Bulgaria, The Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia are all candidates for membership. Good luck with that. Even if their junk can still get off the launch pad, all you get out of it is a great big fallout sandwich ! mmm ! Besides, who the devil would attack Russia ? Planning on returning ? Bon voyage ! You'll no doubt arrive just in time for the big Red Army recruiting drive. Can you blame them for holding a grudge ? Wearing that commie ball & chain for 50-odd years was probably enough to insure that Russia's name is "mud" in those nations for some time to come. Threatening Russian security's got nothing to do with why they want to hook up with the West. It's about their own security ...turning their economies around now that they've finally tossed aside all that Marxist nonsense that made disaster areas out of 'em for decades.
Hmm, I think perhaps Putin isn't so dumb as y'all seem to think. If he can rally his people into a national pride, having a common enemy, then the nation will be much more willing to go along with many various conditions on their everyday lives. There's little else that can bring a people together like a common enemy! One might say 'a common goal', but enemy is even better ...because a common goal might be achieved, or worse, seem to unachievable that people lose interest. Baron Max
you make it seem like this is about pride of some sort...or political nationalism. It isn't it. This is about rockets targeted at Russia from various countries, and its time to take a stand and defend our land!
There ya' go ...you've just exhibited the very national pride of which I was speak about. (I'm assuming by your comment that you're Russian, right?) Baron Max
Meh, that's nothing new. A few decades ago rockets stationed in Latvia targeted much of the Scandinavia and Germany. And they targeted Latvia. Whatever. Used to it.
And "dragon's" comments are proof that it's rallied the Russian people towards a common enemy or goal. Putin is smart! Baron Max
I hate to be the one to inform you but latvia isn't really considered to be European either. Latvians are just some form of russians. yeah yeah..I know about the EU. I'm talking about the historical perception of what is Europe. reference: Postwar -a history of Europe since 1945, Tony Judt.
Ignorance is bliss, I guess. p.s. We have been around longer than since 1945 as an occupied country within the Russian Empire.
Doesn't matter. You have obviously not read the reference. Many parts of Europe have desired to be part of Europe, especially on the fringes. Despite being in Europe they were not considered to be the real Europe. The balkan area is an good example of this. Even Austria had trouble getting into the European 'feeling'. Latvia never was considered to be really Europe. Not now and not in history. But you may correct me with a referenced source.
Sorry, I don't care about it or you that much to find references for you. I hope you understand how idiotic that sounds. Be seeing you Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
he better not nuke london the asshole, i doubt i can withstand a direct nuclear blast, maybe with more training. edit- i nearly got blown up last time at kings cross whe some assholes terrorised london. peace.
Where did Putin say, "I will nuke you"? Does aiming missiles at someone mean you're going to nuke them? I guess the US is going to nuke China then, since many US missiles are aimed at China. OMFG!!!@!! TEH USA IZ A SKeRRY NASHUN!!
