Honestly? They are the coolest things I've seen in the artworld in a long time! I didn't read the text beneath the slideshow until I'd seen quite a few of them, one of them being the figure curled up beside the pool. I thought to myself "If he's going for emotion, he nailed it!" The figures don't look static at all. They look like they're about to start moving at any second.

I was ready to see some abstract things made out of old bread ties, but these were absolutely awesome! I've seen wire sculptures before and haven't been impressed because they all seem to go for the 'gangly' look. I was pleasantly surprised. Bravo!

This brings a tear to my eye, really. Could you please post a comment on his space?

He needs to hear this type of thing. He is talented as you noticed but he's a doubter.

He needs a kick up the butt to get him 'out there' and noticed.

It's not letting me do it. It says I have to "be a friend". If you like, you can post my comment, just tell him you sent me a link or else I stumbled across them during a random image search. I don't use MySpace. What's this "friend" thing?

I registered and sent him a message with an afterthought. His sculptures remind me of the casts made by the victims of Pompeii, so I added that I found his work enigmatic. I have long been fascinated by the casts made of these people who were caught in the moment just going through life.

Some of them are pretty astounding, but I don't have a MySpace account, nor do I plan on getting one.

    Beautiful stuff, though.
    I, too, was surprised.
I've known some "wire sculptors", and they don't come close to this.

Don't try to make him feel better. Artists feed off their own dispair.

They are good. They look weightless, like a ghost, but formed and solid at the same time. Very unique and intreging.

Great! Now ask him how he's going to make a living when he grows up? My guess is that selling wire scuptures, even damned good ones, ain't gonna' keep him and his family in bread and water.

Encourage him to keep at his artwork, but to put more time and effort into becoming something that will provide for himself and his family.

    HI TOR,

thank you for bring the wire sucltures to my attention.

I have to say i have hardly seen wire scultures before, but these look truely great! I am not really into art so i dont know how to describe them.

the time and patience to build one of those must be icnredible. i like the one of the pink flamingo./swan, they look awsome. And the horse ones are pretty incedible too.

So much dedication needs to be admired!!

Sorry Tor, i dont have a myspace account, maybe one day though.

Bob is very lucky to have such a concerned friend.

    Maximus,

he may have inherited a load of cash and not have family and need the money.

Its not always about money maximus as you know. You can be quite miserable and have hard times even with plenty of Dollars..

He has a full time job thanks. He does this in his spare time.

He has his own home which he pays for himself and supports ex wife and two sons.

You presume a lot don't you Baron?

His life size figures sell for a thousand/s a piece, so I think if he gets enough commissions etc he can make a full time living at it.

    Good artists generally do.

And yet you come here, to sciforums, to get people to give him encouragement????? For something that does for fun??? ....while enjoying such a wonderful, beautiful existence with plenty of wealth to enjoy all of the finer things in life?? ....that most of us can't do???

    Duh.

Aww, come on, don't be such a materialistic creep, Baron.
Imo, doing, what one enjoys, is more important than a bigger salary.
Besides there is great mental satisfaction in creating art, it's a part of yourself.

I think there is nothing finer in life than being able to create and enjoy beautiful art.

you call working round the clock fun?

get off your fat lazy arse Baron

one minute you condemn him for having a 'hobby' then you condemn him for having two jobs!

    You are just a fool

    Maximus

you are a fucking penis, and an absolute cock.

An advocate of mass murder and the most miserable muthafucka on these boards.

Any newcomers to sciforums if they interact with you are quickly scared off, beaucse you are such an uncompassionate prick.

the most repulsive hman being i have had to interact with and on top of this you are blindly (or not) working for the causes of Alqueda, by spinning such vile words of hate.

Alternatively you are just winding us up (and that you are a big softie)and for that i give you loads of credit, because it sure as hell is working!!!

lets just hope its the second option.

To personally insult you? If a thread dosent interest you , why bother posting on it? Do you read through each and every thread ever created or something? Or are you just here to have a go at people?
