To be extra fair, anyone different in a small town in Mississippi is going to get messed with, Jews, Muslims, gays... it isn't just atheists.

Or, will it just be atheists - after all the other faiths already 'believe' in a god...it's just a matter of conversion.
    Atheists...no potential there...too argumentative!

They aren't that reasonable. I grew up in a small town in Maryland- almost the south, and that's what it's like. I doubt the people attacking the atheists even believed in God really, it's just a knee-jerk self defense mechanism towards anything they consider odd.

I'm Atheist and I don't say there can not be a creator or two or three or as the Shinto think 2 or so and then 1 million or so ... I simply lack a belief in those things.

Think on it like this IAC, do you believe in 1 million Gods? No. How about 999,999? Again, No. How about 999,998? No. 999,997, No. 999,9996. No. ... ... ... ... 554,653? No. 158,921? No. 65,543? No. 254? No. 12? No? 5? No. All the way down to a God and a Goddess? No. Well now, simply one more to go and we think alike!

If you can see how stupid it is to say: They know in their hearts that monotheists, who say there cannot be a million Gods, are being dishonest, as people know you can't know that.

Then you start to get it,
    Michael

In my country religious people like Christians and Muslims are the minority so most people seem to hate them.

People aren't hated because they're religious or atheists, but because they are the minority of the population.

Only a very small minority here are willing to engage in dialogue. Most are here only to vent their hate in a "safe" environment. It's a place where people can attack other people thinking that there will be no consequences.

Of course as a Christian i believe that there is a consequence for each and every word we give.

What consequences do you specifically refer to Adstar?

"Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess...ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that."

    Deuteronomy 12:2

Incitement to violence in the eyes of the law?
I can't believe that this book is given to children...

It is hard to believe, but not unexpected considering that Yahweh was invented as a tribal, monopolist war god so that the ancient hebrews could A: Keep their populations (especially the rural) from straying back to the old ways of paganistic worship. ....and B: To discredit all other belief systems in an attempt to control their populations and justify the attacks against their neighbours.

These violent quotes from the bible never make it to sunday school for the kiddies...they are conveniantly bypassed for "safer" passages. Even such for the adults in regular church service. I never once in all my days in church heard any of those horrific old testment verses.

In the video, the one man cited the several "militant" atheist ideas that fuel the ideology, but it's like any other stereotype - not to mention that their stupid (removing Under God from the pledge, removing nativity scenes, etc.).

But they should absolutely not be mistreated nor be denied the right to "preach". People put up with all the stupidity that is evangelical Christianity (Jehovah's Witnesses sticking their legs in your doors wanting to convert you), and they'll put up with atheists if they have to as well.

That CNN panel discussion was a complete farce. The little news piece at the start demonstrates how it's possible for an atheist to be disciminated against, and then the panel spends a majority of their time discriminating against atheists. What the hell kind of rational discourse it that?

I think removing the word God from the money and the pledge would go a long way towards increased acceptance of the FACT that the United States is a secular nation.

Hell, I don't even mind that "In God We Trust" crap. But why not have some fun with it and have some more currency made with "Praise Be To Allah" and "How 'Bout That Darwin"?

Meh. Either way, I can't say that I'm surprised that yet again people representing 70% of the American populace are claiming oppression from some 5%. That's just rich.

Darwin is on the British £10 note. You couldn't have that in America, not least because Darwin wasn't American. A famous American scientistwould be a good start though.

Technically, there is nothing either illegal or immoral about these acts:

Freedom of speech works both ways. You can treat anyone in this country - so long as one is not breaking the law - however you want.

Sucks to be them, though. But truly, what did they expect? The deep South is especially religious.
