To each is their own. I just like to listen to more complex lyrics and try to break them down. From what I heard of Aesop Rock he isn't too complex. From what I heard of Deep Puddle Dynamics, I already like Sole and know he is pretty deep but still not on the same level as Alien Nation.

I don't memorize every piece of lyrics, however, it is hard for me to forget such amazing deep verses and quotes. I like to listen to Music in the Car and at work so if something catches my ear I tend to remember it.

It has nothing to do with photographic memory??? If you close a book do you forget everything you read? If you hit the stop button do you forget everything you heard??? It's almost a waste of time for you to listen to these semi deep lyricists if your not gonna remember or recognize what they say. That's just my opinion....

when I close a book I remember the basic story or concept that was told, the same as with a song. but you challenge me to a game of quotes, meaning that I should know the song word for word.

once more I make the statement that this is about opinion. you might claim, as earlier that there is no doubt who spits more deep. I beg to differ in this argument. like Nietzsche said: "there are no facts just interpretations". and while it is a fact what is said by either Alien Nation or Aesop Rock, it is a question of perception how deep they are in our individual eyes. I dont hold Alien Nation in as high regard since what I've heard is either something I've heard before or something I could've hypothesized myself. while Aesop manages to spit with mindblowing complexity, poetic metaphors and introverted deepness. that is something I consider deeper. you apparently are more into the more scientific hypotheticals which I respect. so yet again I will claim that this is about opinion.

It's all good man....you are entitled to your opinion and I respect it.

One more thing Alien Nation would wipe the floor with Aesop Rock and/or Deep Puddle Dynamics in a freestyle battle!!!!!

    LOL

Isn't it funny how Hip Hoppers love to debate their favorite MCs. I still don't understand how these two MCs/groups got to be compared but I think Protozoa summed it up really well even though it's just a more wordy version of my reply (apples and oranges). Yeah A. N. would rip him but Alien Nation are battle MCs too.

I'm listening to Float right now, Commencement At The Obedience Academy is cool but I don't know. Can't feel his voice and delivery, but he's not on some B. S. and that demands respect. I guess I like my Hip Hop with a harder edge.

They got compared because each one of us think the other is deeper. I guess we both have different definitions for deeper. Protozoa feels that deeper has to do with complex metaphors, I on the other hand feel that deeper means more knowledgeable, spiritually and mentally.

Well I always liked oranges better then apples because they last longer, they are fresher, they are a lot brighter, apples bruise easier, and if you try to bite into an orange it will spit "juice" at you.

    LOL

Basically what you've posted in quotes I have already heard from friends or in movies or read in books.

as I have neither heard Deep Puddle Dynamics, Aesop Rock or Alien Nation battle I cannot say which would come out as a winner, and I suspect neither can you.

Deepness has nothing to do with how complex metaphors are or if there is metaphors present. its nice to see you try to put me down. you might not see the deep insight Aesop has, I do. but again, it is all based on individual perception.

I doubt it. What movie or book breaks down the Devil in every culture, or talks about building a Time Machine to assasinate Judas, talks about Light Tablets, CyberChrist. I don't know man seems pretty original to me. I would be interested in any movies or any books pertaining to this. Let me know if ya find any.

    Alien Nation are Battle MC's

Man, I'm not trying to put you down. Aren't you the one who said you like Aesop Rock because of his metaphors and complexity??????

    Peace

I know they aren't "underground" but wu-tang still kick serious ass, especially bobby digital, they weren't made like an all-star team , they just all know eachother so some of them aren't going to be all that good. I think wu-tang lyrics are hilarious and very deep at the same time. I love the gravediggaz "six feet deep" album, bobby digital at his best.
I know you guys will laugh but I think snoop dogg is fuckin awesome and doggystyle is still one of the best and most hilarious albums ever.
I don't know too much underground stuff because I don't care enough about music to look for it. On the movie Kids' soundtrack there is an excellent song from some group called "lo-down" or something and its maybe my favorite song ever.
I always thought blackilicious really sucked but maybe I'm thinking of the wrong guys. I think eminem is pretty good but I don't like him enough to buy his shit and his lyrics definately aren't deep at all, usually just about him and how awesome he is, kinda lame, he sounds good though.
Ja-rule is the worst though, damn! he sounds like shit and his lyrics are about loving girls, thats not what hip-hops about!

Speaking of Aesop...Can someone explain to me what "Oxygen" is about. I'm getting some of the genius he drops around in there, but I'm missing the overall picture.
I find that once I understand the general idea of any of his songs, I get so much more out of it.

    Aesop Rock....good stuff...
