"Mr Jasson says Qantas and Virgin Blue were engaging in censorship but the airlines say the T-shirt was a security issue"

Yes. If it was made of Semtex.

What are you talking about? What Bush is doing is just as terrorizing as what the terrorists are doing. In fact, perhaps more so. That's the point the shirt is making. Your comment, I must respectfully say (only because you're not a Bush fan), was just hot air. There's nothing offensive about it to me. And if it's offensive to you, well, too bad, freedom of expression and all.

Number #1 terrorist? Thanks to Bush we've killed thousands of Al Qaeda members and possibly Bin Laden himself.

But still, I think it's somewhat appropriate for the Politics forum, which is where I assume it was.

By becoming a greater terrorist than bin Laden himself, and through the process killing thousands of Iraqi civilians, and more American people than were killed in 9/11. This is assuming he's even killed that many members of al-Qaida, including bin Laden, which I highly doubt.

And you call liberals out of touch with reality!

I still think this is appropriate for the Politics forum. Even if this was Kiwi.

I don't think the airline was necessarily censoring. Given the fear of terrorism at airports people have, when customers see him with a shirt like that they'll think he is a wacko. Personally I really don't care even if people are getting censored on an airplane. It isn't a public space and it isn't an unreasonable precaution to avoid upsetting other customers.

Isn't it a public space? Besides, real terrorists dress inconspicuously.

Airplanes are owned by corporations, so the plane itself is not.

To clarify, I did not say I thought he was a terrorist. And he does not necessarily have to seem like a terrorist to piss other customers off with that shirt. Imagine a flight with some Fox news watcher and that guy.

I'd have to say I agree.
George W. Bush is a terrorist.
For what is "shock and awe" if not terrorism on a big scale?

Where, in Iraq? A country that was never home to Al Qaeda until our news media spontaneously decided to declare it so? Or did you mean Afghanistan, where we've never even had enough troops to go on the offensive?

We woudn't be having this thread if the UN pulled its head out of its collective ass and took action against Iraq themselves like they are supposed to be doing. In fact, I think the fact that the U.S. went to the UN to ask for support is a testament to the fact that America wanted all the support it could get. (And to think the French wanted rebuilding contracts only months after the invasion they didn't take part in or contribute to... pansies...)

Also, I don't remember NEAR as big a fuss with Clinton and Kosovo. Or Somalia, where dead U.S. soldiers were dragged in the street naked and Clinton had the rest of them tuck tail and run. Or how about purgery? Purgery, anyone? A federal offense? If Clinton were a republican, he would've been burnt at the stake. For that matter, if Bush were a democrat, celebrities would be washing his feet with their hair.

    Meh, whatever...

I'm going to be honest here people, unfortunately President Bush isn't the brightest fellow in the world but the fact is this... he has not done a damn thing to become a terrorist, infact he's basically just sitting inside the White House... the real terrorists are the ones obeying him and not thinking for themselves, in which case they're to blame, your family, friends, co-workers... for letting this continue and not asking more questions.

I have no sympathy for those weak minds that agree with anyone who has money, they deserve to be angry and dispatched into war, if they said no thing might be different. Bush hasn't served alot right? Well that's because he at least said no! He's no terrorist, he's a guy that people think they gotta listen to but really they could just leave and find work someplace else

Aww, my favourite site is www.hotpurging.com !

On topic though - It's a fucking t-shirt! What is the world coming to.

The fact that I kind of agree with the t-shirt and appreciate the message is secondary.

Don't airlines just want a calm flight? People are packed in there like sardines and I could imagine there would be comments made about it and maybe an argument or two would start.
If a Middle Easterner was wearing it, I would bet an argument would break out.
