Hello, Best Season's Greetings! Will you please tell me, how inter or intramolecular forces can be changed, still maintaining the molecular composition same? Whether products with differenent molecular forces will be different? Best wishes.
Kumar: imagine a molecule as a 3D-arrangement of balls and springs with a stable configuration. You can push it into a different stable configuration. There's lots on google about all this, I couldn't find a good one for you, but this is a start: http://www.cem.msu.edu/~reusch/VirtualText/intro3.htm Try searching on "molecule" and "bond angle".
Thanks. How can we push it into different stable configurations? Please also tell about changes in intra molecular effecting molecular forces, say by making a long chan into smaller chain of same molecules?
Are you talking about macromolecule conformations, like proteins? Or cis- to trans- conversions for polymers or fatty acids?
Any possible changes in inter or intramolecular forces causing changes in some properties of origional substance by application of vibrational energies, say grinding, shaking, rotating, vibrating etc.
Well, for cis-trans conversions, retinal is a rather nice example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retinal
While posting this topic, I thought it is quite simple to explain. Forget intra-molecular changes, just tell about stable changes in intermolecular forces on applying vibrational energies on a macromolecule, changing it from a longer chain to smaller chain, podering a crystal, grinding etc.
Geodesic: good one, perfect example. Kumar: follow the link above and see how the molecule changes shape: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! That's how you see
Farsight, Thanks. You cleared it. As such, will emitted or reflected spectrum from these two different structured molecules will show changes? Are such structural changes are possible in simple molecules or their long chain eg. water, alcohol, glucose etc.?
contd...... Two things are bit unclear in respect of molecule changes shape on photon's interactions:- Photon persistence in molecules can't be stable. As such will that molecule regain its origional shape on photon emission? If yes, how its memory/information can be stored in brain without stability in such molecular shape change?
Shape changes in Molecules or macromolecule or in long chain of molecules is possible as indicative in last few posts. In this respect I have few questions:- 1. Whether structural changes are possible in all type of molecules, macromolecules and simple molecules or in their long chain eg. water, alcohol, glucose etc.? 2.Will emitted or reflected spectrum from these two different structured molecules will show changes expressing different properties? 3.Photon persistence in molecules can't be stable. As such, will that molecule regain its origional shape on photon emission? 4. If yes, how its memory/information can be stored without stability in such molecular shape change on energies intractions with brain?
