I was reading up on Michael Crighton's site and it posted some links to sites where he got his info for his new book "Prey" which is coming out next month. One of the links was to this forum, specifically this thread:
    http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=8965

Did anyone know that he used these forums as a reference? Has this already been discussed? He hasn't posted here, has he?

    I think it's amazing.

It is interesting. If he is interested in topics discussed here, he should join in. I know many of us would enjoy chatting with such a published author.

I really don't know yet what the book is about. That's why I was surfing his site. It's being published next month but no info has been released. Is that common to hold back that much information about a book this close to its publication date?

I had read previous books of his and was fascinated how he could research topics and explain them in the simplest terms while creating an imaginative and gripping story at the same time. I'm sure most of you have heard of much of his work as most of his writings have been adapted to the big screen, but those films don't even compare to his books. His most recent book, Timeline, uses ideas of quantum physics and the theory of multiple universes to capture the reader with a scientifically-sound travel through time to ancient France.

Oh well, that's beside the point.

Here is the link to his site where I found to link to this board. I'm really glad that I found Crighton's site and that it also lead me to this forum:

    http://www.crichton-official.com/prey/index.html

The post he used for reference was relatively small, but I'm finding it very interesting following the links that Crighton got some of his info for the book from.

His first link just goes to the board index. What a cunt.
Why is spam getting clever? are people being employed to spam forums covertly?
I would be so good at that.

Because his second link was to another site.

No I know, I mean he says the first link is to a specific thread but it just goes to the board index. Hence he is a cunt.
I wasn't being sarcastic (if that's even what you suspected?)

Hey maybe he already <I>has</I> joined. He might be using another name, you know. To avoid all kinds of trouble. Because there would be many who would accuse him of being someone else using the name. And those who do believe that he's the real one would be giving him no peace. And many other problems like that. So maybe he's right here! Maybe I am him, or maybe you are, who knows?

Prey is about nanorobots. What he really should have used the site for was his latest book, where he disses global warming. Now you can argue about its cause, but not about the fact...

spam would be a fun job though... i have to agree.. even if everyone hated you... as long as you had the ability to be really creative with it.

Nah, his latest book is not State of fear, but one titled "Next", which I finished a couple of weeks ago. Is about the possibility of animals acquiring language, by the use of genetic modification, actually there's a very funny parrot who has gotten too much modification, IMHO

The initial thread was started in 2002, so it's a little out of date.

Nickelodeon, you revived this thread twice. Kudos.

Anyway, as for this thread: Maybe he was just one among many people who find this site through a Google search or something, read one thread, and then continue on their merry way. But I suppose the only way to know for sure is to ask him.

To find out if he is among us we could insult him in every post we make. He's bound to snap eventually.

    I HATE HIM!

I mean, I would HATE to find out he posts here!

(Adding in reverse psychology is the best, you know.)

I'm pretty sure he's not a member. He's conservative and a writer, so his posts would probably stand out.
