Wordpress and Blogger are two easy to use methods. I've been using Blogger for mine (see the link above) and most of my hits each day are from google searches. The key is to put good search terms in your post titles. To promote your blog, the best way is to post on and link to other blogs that are similar to yours. Once other bloggers get to know you, they'll read yours more often and put you on their blogroll and link to your own posts that they discover. I'm really bad about not following that advice, however. But posting is good because people that read a blog will very often click on your name and see what your blog is about, particularly if you leave an insightful or provocative post.
Ha! well I bet both of them can't lay claim to being stalked on SF by an author, who mistook them for another authorPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! (wallowing in ego) PS: thanks for the blog info.
I have two blogs: one is where I bemoan my fate, so my family and friends can keep up with my uneventful existence. Another is where I put up my kitchen trial and errors for those of the family and friends who worry about what I'm eating. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Both are fairly recent.
I forgot I had a blog. No one reads it because it's all filled with essays or short stories no one ever read http://bigsleazy.blogspot.com/
I like the idea of a recipe blog. I may start one. I have a blog that I use mainly as a journal to explore my thoughts on various subjects. http://balanced-pragmatism.blogspot.com
Oh its not just a recipe blog, I put in whatever I like. A pretty salad that someone made, the results of the instant muffin mix, the ready to bake rolls that are so much better than sliced bread, whatever I discover on the market that my kitchen challenged or time challenged family/friends can use. I recently erased and started over, so its too new to share now. Still trying out styles to see what works best. Unfortunately I know very little about html and how to make it more stylish and colorful. *sigh*
My blog. Went strong for about 9 months and then died a natural death. I got extremely bored! http://pawpaint.wordpress.com
That was an utterly dull 10 minutes I'll never get back, although it did yield 1 gem. http://pawpaint.wordpress.com/2006/03/18/feminism/ SANDOZ, where are you? SANDOZ! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I do...used it as a bit of a journal for a bit, than forgot about it. Only the last two entries are blog like, and they were writen in a bit of a trance like state, and so aren't entirely coherent I think. But for the heck of it(and for the fact that I feel like posting) here is mine: http://www.xanga.com/funcoolsmart
awww... thanks. but really, i'm flattered! I just live for approval Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Yes I have a blog (Delusions of Divinity?). It serves multiple purposes: the need for self-expression in an increasingly complex world, to catch the attention of editors and to share a spiritual journey - which like some can veer from the mundane to the mystical.
I find Blogs and Diaries really don't work. Okay admittedly with blogs there is the possibility that no one will actually look at it, unless you happen to have something on it that no where else has. For instance you've modded your computer, games console, car etc to do something it isn't usually suppose to do and other like minded folk *might* actually want to know about it. Diaries... well I could never get past the first week, then I realised how boring and mundane what I have to say is and just decide it's a road to no where. If I perhaps did something extreme once a week then perhaps it would be worth it.... anyone got Bungi jumping, Base Jumping or other stupidly dangerous stuff might have better success.
