    Hi everybody:

Recenlty i digging into internet i found something really interesting, i have some knowledge in biology and physics and what i read left me thinking is real? is science touching myticism?

Articles that i read claim that some russian researchers that dont believe that junk DNA is only junk, discovered in middle 80´s that efectively junk DNA is not junk either is and important part in expression and regulation and integration of external information into genetic 'aparatus'. I read that they began to research thanks to an strange efect named phantom DNA, they irradiate DNA with a laser of determinate wave length into the void, if they retire DNA still 3D structure of DNA molecule appears but only made of laser radiation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A laser 'ghost' of DNA, later they 'discovered' that junk dna is a sort of antenae that comunicates with codificant segments of DNA using 'biophotons', in some articles is claimmed that this russians using modulated laser was capable to repair some metabolic disorders, and other amazing things

Suposely that research patrocinated for RAS (Russian academy of science) and made for scientists Ptor Gariaev(you can make a google search to find something using 'Gariaev'). I´ll give you some links that looks serious, ´cause there´s some new age crap about that, ´cause there´s people claimming that biophotons used for junk dna to 'communicate' information are a plain explanation for auras.

This is some of technical article

    This is about phantom DNA

Gariaev has a page but much information is in russian:bugeye: , but theres some articles in english in this page.

And this links is a simple explanation of these works:

    What do you think????

    See ya

well, the fact that junk DNA isnt just junk DNA is no news,
but I doubt about these biophotons... there are no serious articles, is there?

    where i could find........

Where i could find information about function of that? Or you agree with that junk DNA is a virus cementery? I think that must be a better explanation

I would see an expriment using that technology. I will not discard it until see a physical prove. I find another science forum and somebody gave links and emails to different people working in that, and a lot of publications in russian. Link to that discussion is here:

    http://www.scienceforums.net/showthread.php?t=18832&page=2.

It´s sad that i dont know russian, i think would be good send an email to RAS to ask if they know about that works or is if only bulls***, a big sci-hoax

Science was always like that. Science came from religion, and religion came from magic, it's all connected. Science is supposed to have that component, it's normal.

Why doubt something just because it's strange?

There has been evidence recently that light can actually be used in a medical context, as a type of healing. So I'm not really surprised that this is possible.

I think people are doubting it simply because it's from Russia and I see no point to that, just because it's Russian it does not mean it's wrong. The Russians made it into space first, they have been damn smart so far.

    It´s true

Yes, i in my free time read about neural networks and their appplications and i found a polynomial neural network made for russians, absolutetely great, but that network appear IN NO ONE text book about neural network, i build that network using matlab and it´s really great is another way to think, very, very different.

I doubt it as long as I read article about it from highly referenced source.
tho russia has some history in the lines of genetics is witchcraft, I think nowadays russia and china(as they lack in laws and regulations) do pretty impressive science in genetic and gene manipulation.

In early evolution, horizontal gene transfer from one species (or proto-species) to another transferred a lot of genes that don't code for anything. However, the universal term "junk DNA" is no longer appropriate to use, because we now know that many former socalled "junk DNA" do have a purpose. Just do a simple search on using the terms "junk DNA codes for." A lot of socalled "junk DNA" help code for proteins. Some "loop code for single-stranded RNA - protein," etc. Just do a simple search like that and you'll come across countlesss number of codings that junk DNA are involved in.
