None whatever! No other species has crawled out of the soup, as soon as humans 'dry off' and begin to move around they will discover the same.

You may accept my word on this - the explanation is beyond human comprehension.

What I find amazing and hilarious is that Seti hasn't taken seriously any of the reported claims of abductions. Instead of aiming a dish at one of the star systems people claim the beings originate from Zeti Riticuli, etc. They ignore these comments and it's sad because what if there actually were signals from that system, stupid foolish Seti scum!

Where does "advanced" imply more advanced than us? Maybe they use radio signals the same way we do. We're not looking for alien intelligences that have interstellar travel, we're just looking for alien intelligences.

SETI - FUTILE - you are not even in the same universe.

  13. W.S Gilbert's wife was an alien y'know. Well, she hailed from the Lyme Regis area. Amounts to the same thing. Communicated only by smearing marmite on her breasts and squishing them against windows. Some form of random, yeasty basted cuneiform, or so I'm told. I'm afraid I'm far too British to want to go into it in more detail. We don't have sexual behaviour in our country. Just organise gymkhana's prattle on about the weather.

No, you're probably right. SETI most likely is a complete waste of time but, then again on the other hand, it actually doesn't cost particularly that much and gives graduates something to do other than work in Pizza Hut.

AH, There is [intelligent]life on earth and he IS the very model....

As for Ms G Don't you mean 'Basingstoke'?

  15. No. There's no such place. It doesn't exist on any map. It's a myth. Like pencils and Camelot. An idea pushed onto a gullible public eager for excitement and cheap thrills by hack science fiction writers and the lactose intolerant. I won't be having any of it, Mr Brain. Not a bit.

You're quite lovely too, by the way. Marry me x

I'll Hold off a while on that one, I do so hate to hear a man say 'Crushed again'!

  17. I can assure you, my asking in the first place is purely for tax purposes.

Excellent analysis. We may extrapolate this statement to most of the research being done. For instance: cancer research. On closer inspection you will find that most cancer researchers will never cure cancer. And neither will SETI people find ET.

But it looks nice on paper and that is what matters. Let's all pretend we are not a bunch of monkeys fooling around and the world makes a lot more sense.

No actually the world makes a lot more sense if you realize we're just a bunch of monkeys fooling around.

Yes, of course we are a bunch of monkeys, but if people would accept that then they wouldn't feel special anymore and lost. And the world wouldn't make sense.

sorry for the confusion! My sincere apologies.

What is the budget for SETI? Might it be better to shut it down until something better comes along – SuperSeti or something?

    Why mess around with radio signals when you can send a 9 trillion gigabyte mini-probe 99.9% as fast that can not only get your message across, but can dialogue for you and do sales calls on the way? For instance, by radio;

    “Send money”

    One thousand years later

    “How much?”

Dolphins like to watch T.V. and movies ('Water World' and 'Flipper' for example) I'm sure they would enjoy calling their buddies using a cell phone too.
