I knew there was significant lower odds for men to contract the virus from a woman, but :eek: That low???
So that is definately the probability of communication to a male via vaginal intercourse with an infected female? and is that constant no matter what stage of the virus the infected woman has reached, even if reached full-blown aids?

That stattistic was given to me by a Doctor around 1992 to 1994 or soo.
he had just come back from an AIDs conference and told me the calculation was at 1 in 4000, statisticaly.

Obviousely any form of direct transference of blood to blood wil be near a gerentee although some (VERY FEW.. SOO very few it is almost pointles mentioning it are immune to AIDS) wont contract it
some will contract it but will not develop in to the actual condition...
basicly there are many variations that could result in basicly no actual effect but still could make you a carrier,
that said... that group is very small in general more soo when you have blood to blood contact.

"Normal" sex is unlikely to result in contracting it from a female.
IF you used a condom then that reduces the possability even further (although some people have argued that the HIV virus is small enough to pass through the actual fabric of a condom i am yet to hear any scientific statement of that assuming such a thing would be stated at all).

if you used a condom and did not have any cuts or skin abrasions where the skin was effectively destroyed as its natural barrier,
AND
she did not have any cuts (blood) then your are far more likely to win the lottery twice in a row.

i am unaware of any as i have not done any research or study into it.
generaly the 2 basic methods(most common as far as i am aware) men contracts HIV is from anal sex as that often results in bleeding and in blood transfusions.
basicly any instance of having infected fluid (semen or blood) get into the blood stream.

obviousely...
having anal sex with a women without a condom is going to increase your chances of contracting it but not garente that you would.

Some women like to think of themselfs as a Bitch
and will even consider it like a badge of honour.
Personaly i do not associate with such women and would never conceive of
having any further contact not to mention sexual.

Crazy. I had no idea those were the chances either. I thought regardless of how you had sex, as long as the person was infected and you got some of their bodily fluids in an orifice, you'd had it.

Not very high. Consequently, AIDS is a syndrome and not an infection... the virus that girl is infected with is called HIV. You won't know if you have it for about 6 months.

If you do, there are alot of great treatments which will prolong your life; however, as of today that infection is still fatal unofortunately.
 
Life is fatal, eventually ... however, it's important for a person on anti-retrovirals to take them with absolute punctuality. In rural areas in South Africa this is difficult, and people end up with strains resistant to one ARV, then another, then all of them (there aren't that many different ones yet) and then there's no way to treat them.

And I've heard even the best treatments don't extend life indefinitely ... they give a few extra decades if the patient is lucky. But considering that that's quite a large fraction of a normal lifespan, it's a lot better than no treatment.
 
I am a MD - I might have the answers you want :

I found two reliable sources (and one funny indian source) :

From the well known Lancet : investigation of transmission of HIV from Thailand prostitutes to Thai army men without other STD 0.012 = 1 % , probably flawed due to probably multiple intercourses and other STD´s at the prostitute women (causing veneric ulcers with increasing risc of transmission )

The last medical investigation I saw from US of A : less than 0.2 % risk of contracting HIV from an HIV infected woman for a man for a one night stand .....
The risc increases if the woman has other STD´s.

The funny Indian source simply says : less than .0001 % chance of getting HIV from a HIV positive woman , if you are a man - no source qouted by this Indian doctor - I do wonder if he has an authorisation !!

Abstain from unsafe sex - have yourself tested after 3 months - very,very rarely it can last up to 1 year before you test positive .....

Seems Only Logical to wait a year or so before engaging in any more risky behaviour and assertaining your partner is infact monogomist,
thus allowing you a fairly good certainty that while both of you have periodic tests you may feel assured that a negative result will remain just that.

BUT...
they lack imagination and creativity and so you have the same thing for dinner every night,
or..,
its steak on monday soup on tuesday stew on wednesday etc...

if you want a long term relationship that evolves and allows you both to grow as indeviduals emotionaly and intellectualy then you will need a women that likes "nice" men who are fair and reasonable, and
who show respect for men AND women.

because most religions place men as superior to women, and thus teach (brain wash) this into the girls who never develop into free thinking women with thier own thoughts and independence.
it creates a society of women who beleive they are subservient to men and mentaly intherior.
effectively retarding society as they are the ones who teach the children and so nurture shovenism and disrespect for women into thier own sons AND daughters.
it is a viciouse cycle of self distructive design.
