What is the impression you have of groups like Freemasons and the Illuminati (if it even exists)?

I have thought about joining the freemasons for sometime now. I've talked to a number of masons and they all seemed like very nice fellows. But some people rant about conspiracys and satanism and all types of crap.

    BTW,
    We are watching!!!!!

My impression is that such groups don't interest me.

On a side note, i recently learned on the History channel that George Washington and Benjamin Franklin -- both of whom were Freemasons as i recall -- had open marriages.

This was on the History of Sex program. A friend of mine said, "Which probably means that the guys were getting nookie elsewhere while the women weren't doing it" but i'm not so sure of that. Because when they referred to FDR and Kennedy, they did so in a manner implying that the husbands were cheating on the wives. But when they did so with Washington and Franklin, they did so in a way that implied that it was happening both ways.

I'm under the impression that these groups need to be infiltrated and changed from within or totally ignored and left to wither.

    Azrael ...

Considered it years back, decided against it due to the declaration
of a belief in a higher being requirement.

Having sailed with a friend who is one, and met a number of Masons, I
have to say that on the whole they're a stodgy group of decent people.

Biggest plus for the friend was instant recognition, acceptance and,
if necessary, assistance, wherever he sailed.

    Ignore the ranters.

    Take care.

Don't the MJ-12 docs belong to another "cult"?

Well the Masked Magician has spoilt any reason to infiltrate the Magic Circle.

Seriously when you look at cults you can see why they bother the governments so... A group of people that have all succumb to the same way of thinking, governments scare because if those numbers grow and those groups decide the country needs a re-form you end up with certain Parties in election campaigns all over again, or worse.... The plot of anarchy.

At the end of the day, everybody lives their own lives with their own capacity for thought. Thats what makes something like these forums unique. You get to be an individual, without succumbing to a "flock".

Personally I don't want to be perceived "Sheep", perhaps something alone, maybe on occasion in the precence of others. (although people will start assuming some predatory role due to the whole lone wolf stereotyping.)

Of course you could ask the question, "What would you do, if people were prepared to follow you?". I know I would be one for a sudden does of Escapism.

"Illuminati, Greek illumination, name given to those who submitted to Christian baptism. Those who were baptized were called "illuminati" or "illuminated ones" by the Ante-Nicene clergy, on the assumption that those who were instructed for baptism in the Apostolic faith had an enlightened understanding.

The Alumbrados, a mystical 16th-century Spanish sect, were among the societies that subsequently adopted the name illuminati. Later, the title of illuminati was used by a secret society founded by Adam Weishaupt that aimed to combat religious thinking and encourage rationalism."

    @ Chagur

Thanks for the word, the ones I met seemed to be all around decent guys and I had a great day visiting with them and touring their lodge.

I really think the people who basically trash talk the freemason, knights of columbus and other fraternal orginizations have no clue what really is going on and in all likelyhood just like to hear there own voice and the attention they get from spouting off.

That would be cool. It could work well if one of us is super rich and bank roll the secret society to get it started. Then it could be truly an international organization over night.....
