Well if you want to try and figure out first about how big the universe really is, then:

After that, take your tape measure and 'glitter' and go from there.

Well thank you for that information, I suppose that I was wrong in thinking that the univers was the entirety of space itself not just galaxies. But due to the article we already know that the universe is "about 180 billion light-years wide". No need for a tape measure now.

    On expansion

It depends on the "critical mass" against gravity. But between me and you...nobody really knows. The general scientific doctrine now is that the universe will expand forever, but thats totally up to you.

I guess the 'bottom Line' is; It's a pretty big universe out there and it appears to be getting bigger all the time and with enough room for a few more KFC's.

One should wonder why magazines are constantly bent on publishing that "actually is believed that the universe is 156 billion ly wide". This is not correct, consult any paper by Lineweaver to see that the cipher he gives is around 94 billion ly wide

Well............'Now' the current theory suggests that the actual universe is 180 billion LY across. What's another 86 billion LY anyway? If it's true, it means more rocket fuel and candy bars to get there. That's all.

I somehow find hard to believe that scientists had err in a so obvious way to mismeasure the universe and now give a cipher practically the double of the former value, precisely in this epoch of "precision cosmology". I will stick to the Lineweaver value, until more data can uphold the results obtained by Bonanos

Look at it this way........If the universe is only 94 billion LY across instead of 180 billion LY as suggested in recent scientific articles, then that's good. Then you only have to wait a mere 94 billion years to recieve emails from your special alien friends at the end of the universe. Great news if it's true.
