Why was Bill Clinton trying to use the justification of non-existent weapons of mass destruction to attack Iraq? We know it is not to take down a dictatorship. There are lots of countries with worse political stryfe than Iraq. Therefore, what is the real reason America wanted to attack Iraq from the beginning? If I ruled Iraq, with my Party, I would execute all religious leaders, demolish all mosques, churches and any structure associated with religion. All quran's and all other religious texts would be confiscated, destroyed & banned. Those that refuse to abort religion in their lives would be sent to re-education camps or killed. I think the US cannot exist without wars or conflict. Because it has created this big mammoth (PENTAGON/FBI/ARMY) it needs to feed...and the hunger is ever growing...Is there any justification for having 20000 Nuclear missiles ..which can destroy the life on earth over 10 times ... no ..Oil cannot be the reason ..because US could have given 1 trillion dollar in tax breaks to Oil companies ...which would have been enough to keep them alive for next 20 years ..This is all because US ( mind you not Bush not democrats) is a slave to the big Military Industrial complex ... you will see many 911s to justify this spending every time there is a cut in defence budget ..this will continue till the CIA and FBI is dismantled from the current form and a more transparent agency is created with check and balances without any black ops funding..
You give people something to fear (Communism, Terrorism, Russians, Japanese, what-have-you) - something that is evil, cold, heartless and after what they have. Then you assure the people that you are protecting them from the big bad wolf, and if it wasn't for you, the big bad wolf will attack them, destroy their homes, kill their children, eat their grandmothers, rape their wives, etc. Then you back it all up with propaganda to prove you are right. People are convinced they are in grave danger, and they need you to protect them. They not only become obediant and loyal to you, they will offer you all that they are afraid of losing to the "enemy" in exchange for your protection. It has worked over and over again throught history.
The breakup of the soviet union and the warschau pact was a big blow to America. They couldn't even take the credit for it. It was accomplished internally. No enemy left. It took some adjusting to find new ones. If I can remember correctly the news media almost immediately started switching to reporting domestic crime violence and such. This brought the idea to the american minds that crime was getting out of control. In reality crime figures had been going down. Terrorists saved the day.
actually, spurious...your first statement is only partially correct. they couldnt OFFICIALLY take credit for what happened. prior to the ussr's fall, it has been documented and admitted by cia and federal officials that we were buying massive quantities of the soviet currency, and devaluing it. this was all done under private names, of course. it is very similar to what the saudis and chinese are doing to the united states today.
