Hmm... actually I realize my mistake. I didn't consider the "IQ of 25 or less", though I'm not sure if most kids 3 and under could be evaluated for their IQ. Hmm.

In my general usage of the term "idiot" I consider people whom seem to me to be "emotionally retarded" or "socially retarded", in which case I think Al would probably qualify.

Wel that is a point, a false point and a strawman but still a point. The consensus is not even a consensus. Just a group of people who overinflate man's importance.

There are plenty of studies that show that smoking is beneficial to health, but those are vastly outnumbered by ones that show the opposite. Who are you going to believe?

It may well be true that CO2 levels were much higher or lower in the past. It may also be true that when they were much higher, temps were a lot higher and sea levels were a lot higher. It's isn't CO2 or temps per se that are the problem, assuming we still have enough oxygen to breathe and don't combust. The problem is the loss of land due to rising sea levels, loss of biodiversity due to animals being unable to adapt quickly enough, loss of glaciers, etc.

I'd rather have a world that includes the Everglades and wild polar bears. I'd rather have Glacier National Park than The National Park Formerly Known as Glacier.

Al Gore is playing a role similar to Rachel Carlson’s:

The book was called Silent Spring to imply “no more birds”. Carlson was called an alarmist, maybe even an idiot, and those claims were likely backed up by plenty of scientific studies funded by industry. But it is now widely accepted that DDT caused a big decline in bird populations, like those of bald eagles, and these are making a comeback since DDT was banned.

It is a consensus, which need not be unanimous (and never will be for issues where money is to be made by Republicans taking the opposite, nefarious position).

The same was surely said about Rachel Carlson and supporters of her cause; see previous post.

Yes Al Gores an idiot. The day after tidal waves wash you house away, you'll still be saying Al Gores an idiot. Al Gores a do-do head. Al Gores a poh-poh.

Is there evidence that this Global warning is happening? I think there is. Are you gonna hide behind Al Gores an idiot while the powers that be destroy the planet for monetary gain? Whose the idiot?

Links - Please!!! I'm 7 days into quitting a 25 year habit. If you can show me proof that smoking was making me health... Then i'm back on the wagon!!!

I saw a study that said a 357 bullet to the brain was good for the nerves. Don't make it true.

The statement "there is no debate in the scientific community regarding the fact that global warming is real and humans are the cause".

    That is a lie.

Thanks Goat Lover [Missouri where the men are men and the sheep are nervous] but I wasn't replying to your post. Your argument seems to be Al Gore as a man. Not what he's saying. Hate the messenger. Listen to the message...

yeah i thought that was what you were referring to, are you sure he said that? sounds like a "i created the internet" mixup.

well maybe his message will pump more $$$$ into the scientific community.

Al's Report Card -- Gore-LIEberman 2000 unofficial campaign web site [New Window]
From ninth grade (called Form III in the Anglophilic St. Albans culture) to his senior year ... Gore has never released his transcripts, which were obtained ...

And no from the information I have found most scientist don't agree that man is the problem, there is enough information out there that the earth has been much warmer than we are now and that we have been much cooler than we are now, and the green house gasses have been much higher and much lower, and all this was before man even walked the earth, and at that take a trip over seas and check the polution the China, India, Aisa in general, Africa, Russia, and the Middle East contribute and I think you will find that the problem is not the U.S. our laws don't allow for it.

The current scientific consensus is that global warming is occurring and human actions contribute to it.

The perception that this is not the case and that there is a scientific "debate" about global warming is roughly the equivalent of the people who think there is a real scientific to be had converning evolution vs. creationism.

Firstly, it may be true that the world has been colder and hotter as well as more or less CO2. This does not mean that our CO2 is not causing the Earth to become warmer.

Imagine if the CO2 increase warms the Earth and then the resulting changes in the weather alters the ocean currents and this causes the Earth to suddenly get very cold in Europe and N America. Not that this is going to happen, but just to give an example of where high CO2 may result in high and then low tempertures.
