Belief in the "terrorist threat" that USA is facing is a true sign of idiocy.

Global warming is an issue, but not truly one we can address. We are in a period of geologic time when the planet should be heating up just before it cools down. Throw in that the sun has become slight more active than it has been and you get some serious effects.

As for what CO2 mankind puts out. All of human civilization puts out 1% of the greenhouse gasses that escape inot our atmosphere. What are you going to do get an injunction against a volcano?

So were liberals in charge back then? What did they do to avert the ice age and allow the human race to survive? Please fill me in on the timely actions taken by these paleolithic liberal heros.

And look at all thats being done, smoking has been banned in buildings, bars etc. The mayor of NYC banned second hand smoke cus hes smart, really he knows that the blue CO2 cloud dont hert no one.

madanthonywayne does not know his science and is only interested in political attacks. You might not feel it in your comfort but there are those who will become more vulnerable to tropical diseases because more warm areas means more areas for mosquitos to breed. in these same areas, agriculture is affected as semiarid tropical farmland is impoverished. Maybe it's not a big deal to you but the poorer peoples of the world would sure appreciate it if a few more trees are planted by the republican-run nation which guzzles so much forest. This is known as the carbon sequestration strategy.

And, why, not even an ideologue would object to planting more trees?

Easy compare the output of the world's volcanos and vents and compare that to the out put from roughly 7 billion people and a billion automobiles and factor diesel shipc, factories, wood stoves and the like.

I found a source for the 1%. The consensus is that human activity is the most significant contributor to the warming. Then the consensus must be that a 1% increase in CO2 is enough. Small changes can have a big effect to a system, like how a difference between 0 degrees celsius and 1 degree celsius is the difference between snow and rain.

But there are many other scientist that also say that we humans are not the cause of global warming, just as we are not the cause of global cooling, there are studies that show that the world has been much warmer and much colder in the past than what our present tempratures are now and at time the Co2 levals have been much higher and much lower than they are now, and this was before man even walked upright,:

I'm not a fan of Al Gore or his fundamentalist wife or his party but I really liked the movie and was impressed listening to a poltician type that had a real brain. It's been a long time since I've been interested in what a mainstream conservative Democrat had to say about anything. I give the movie 4 out of 5 stars.

He may not be dumb, but he's smugly. He said "there is no debate about global warming in the scientific community" or something very close to that. Obviously his opinion settles the issue. What was I thinking.

Gore's arrogance annoys me too but should we just continue arguing over the subject or develop a plan? Any known personality associated with politics will be shredded by naysayers and the problem remains untouched.

The thread is about what an idiot gore is. I tend to agree. Global warming etc, is a different topic. I don't like gore's arrogance. I don't like that he sells his message with lies, but all of the sudden it's okay with his supporters that he lies, while at the same time it's "bush lied bush lied" blah blah. I find Gore to be a disgusting human, mostly from having seen him live and "candid" a few times. Of course I don't know him personally so I don't take my opinion of the matter particularly seriously, but it would seem that indeed, he's an idiot - though perhaps he's not dumb.

I wouldn't say he's an idiot. I think real idiocy is represented quite well in the current administration. He's a sellout conservative centrist and a capitalist pig with a Christian mullah as a wife. Other than that he doesn't bother me much.

I would say he's an idiot but as I said, I don't take my own opinion too seriously on the matter of someone I've never met. I find criticism of the current administration relevant to the thread. So that's cool, you don't think he's an idiot, I do - good 2 go.

I guess an idiot to me is a person of the lowest order in a former classification of mental retardation, having a mentalage of less than three years of age and an intelligence quotient of 25 or less. Obviously Gore isn't an idiot.

Then by your definition, we agree. Al Gore isn't an idiot, and indeed by that definition, idiots are fairly rare.

Hmm.. and by that definition, would it not hold that kids that are 3 or under necessarily "act like idiots"?
