The growth charts for babies have been 'corrected'. The previous charts were based on measurement on mostly American babies that were formula fed. Formula feeding increases the natural growth rate of breastfed babies. In fact many formula fed babies would be considered to be overweight according to the new charts.

I noticed that in the US it is still standard to formula feed babies, while for instance in Finland it is standard to breastfeed. But the tide seems to be changing albeit slowly.

I wonder if there has been any research on the long term effects of formula feeding. The technique is quite different from breastfeeding. The formula babies eat more in a shorter time. The breastfed baby tends to have more feeding sessions in which he eats more slowly and eats less.

I would imagine this has an influence on the metabolism that could stay with an individual for the rest of his life.

Maybe this would be a nice topic to discuss here. There are many aspects of breastfeeding we could discuss on a social and scientific level.

It is true that the more frequent meals you eat the better chances you have of not becoming overweight.

Eating 3 meals a day is a retraining of the body to coincide with the societal demands of an industrialized work force.

Isn't it interesting that we won't listen to our bodies but force the body into what is more convenient for our lifestyles, and we wonder why we become overweight?

The human body is an amazing machine. It adapts very well to what we do or don't do to it. If we listen to it, we are rewarded. If we do not, our health is affected for the worse.

Most interesting thing about this thread is not here, but in the forum list of threads, at least it was there when I came here:

4replys and 366 views, slightly more than 1% of viewers who came here replied.

Perhaps they came here like I did expecting some quick funny joke.

So as not to disappoint others, here is my attempt:

    ....I'LL VOLUNTEER.

Yeah like how I get a boner whenever I see some baby sucking on a woman's tit.
We should scientifically discuss my boner, but only my breastfeed-caused-boners, not the ones which were caused by nude female wrestling porn, unless we require the latter as a control.
It's possible the breastfeed boners are firmer but more temperemental than the female wrestling boners.
Hmmm, interesting topic, you've really got me thinking ... *Chin stroke* *Brow furrow*

As long as the mother is healthy, eats well, and doesn't take any medications, then why would you want to substitute Nature's natural human formula with an artificial substitute?

After over thirty years, Nestlé is stilll involved in lawsuits regarding its formulation of baby milk. Google a search using "Nestle milk formulation lawsuits." Here's one that is still going on in China: http://www.dairyreporter.com/news/ng.asp?id=56662-nestle-defends-the

So let's see....first the US hospitals prefer the immune system sapping caesarian section because it's quicker and easier (and therefore cheaper) and then babies are fed dubious "formula" instead of breast milk so food companies can make money selling mothers this stuff instead of breast milk (which is free) so no wonder americans turn out so fucked up. I won't even mention the penis mutilation.

So let's see...no matter how fucked up we are, we are the most powerful nation in the world. Also, I don't think that all hospitals perfer ceasarian section births. My mom just had a baby, and she requested to have it C-section, and they wouldn't let her. Also, she's not allowed to breast feed because it would be potentially harmful to the baby's health(because of her own health problems). There are plenty of ACTUAL reasons why Americans are so fucked up, perhaps you should start a thread discussing those reasons since you are so interested in them.

On topic though, I think breast-feeding is the better option, but it really doesn't matter. I was never breastfed, and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with me.

You got your "most powerful" title handed to you on a plate basically because now is a completely worthless time to be the "most powerful" (what can you do with that "power"?) and no one else can be arsed.

Now go cry over your sliced up cock.

I really didn't get you last part. But being the most powerful gives us a lot. Like, all of the best colleges for example.

Better than Oxford and Cambridge? What about Eton? St. Andrews?

If your education was so great, you wouldn't be starting sentences with conjunctions, would you?

Aren't we getting a wee bit off track here?

What is better? Breast feeding or formula?

I'm saying that we don't even know enough to artificially replace all the nutrients supplied in the mother's own milk, as long as she is healthy and doesn't take drugs or medication.

Harvard is the equivalent of Oxford or Cambridge, along with all of the American resources and technology that come with our power of course. Never heard of the other ones, so they can't be so great. I said colleges, not public schools, I have stated in other places that the public schools ion America are horrible. Really, this is getting off track, my point was that formula and C-section have VERY little to do with America's problems. And yes, if we wanted to, we could just bury your tiny isle in the North Sea.

LOL, resorting to macho posturing. We have nukes too, and we could aim them so that we could kill at least twice as many of your citizens as you could of ours even if you destroyed every Brit on the planet. Wouldn't really be worth your while then would it? So put your cock away, hardman. Mindless testosterone flavoured agression is why idiots like you can't have a few drinks without wanting to start a fight, and people like you should be fucking castrated.

    You said:

Which means that you believe every single one of the world's best "colleges" (you really meant universities) were in the USA, which is most definitely not the case. So, where's your apology for making a fool of yourself?

Actually, Harvard does have the best MBA program in the world. Oxford's MBA program is horrible. Plus, we have Yale, Stanford, Princeton....So what if Oxford has the best of everything else, business is where the money's at. I don't know why, but that comment about a few drinks pisses me off. I'll let that pussy comment go, I know it's not your fault that you were raised in such a pussy place.

BTW:If you haven't noticed yet, I'm trying to piss you off.

You have six times the population of the UK. Do you have six times as many of the best universities? If the answer is no, the UK wins.
