How do I properly address the current kernel issues with NetBSD 2.1.0 causing some processes to occasionally 'stick'? Such lowly programs as rogue I have seen consuming up to 94% CPU time, with process priority as high as 64.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

    Dear Tor:

This is a question I asked a long time ago, but nobody answered the question, so I'm asking now.
Have you ever seen those TV shows that feature trips the the bottom of the ocean? They are usually shows like "National Geographic Explorer", and feature the deep sea submarine "Alvin".

Well-- my question is about the life that hangs out around the deep ocean hydrothermal vents (like the giant tube worms, crabs, eels, shrimp, etc). Has anyone tried to eat any of those fish yet?

Question 2: Since they already live in boiling water, does this mean they are already pre cooked, or does it mean they would be totally invulnerable to cooking?

These worms contain bacteria and taste like shit.

    http://www.oceansonline.com/hydrothe.htm

"Because of the difficulty of observing these organisms or even raising them in the lab, progress in understanding how they feed, how they metabolize their food, and what role they play in the food web has been slow. Nonetheless, the existence of vent organisms and their unique way of solving life's problem of growing, surviving, and reproducing has opened up a whole new way of looking at life. The primary dependence of these organisms on symbiotic relationships has led many scientists to re-evaluate the importance of these associations in many other communities of organisms. Thus, the discovery of vent organisms has changed our perspective of marine ecology in all areas of the sea"

Note the worms and other organisms are likely toxic, I don't suggest eating any.

Meanwhile your query has been forwarded to seafood@blueocean.org so you may have an official answer within day or so.

Now now Chuckmeister general I find ToR entertaining and humourous and I am too old to entertain notions of drooling over someone on the net.

So I guess Domesticated Om should sell his deep sea sub and the rights to "Deep sea Harvest Inc." Just think of all the fancy beer he can buy.

    Dear Tor,

Since the innuit and eskimo live in a perpetually cold climate, do they ever eat ice cream? What about popsicles? Did they ever have any traditional ice cream or popsicle flavors prior to the arrival of the rest of civilization? If so, what flavors?

Since they have a few evolutionary developments for dealing with cold, do they ever get headaches from eating ice cream, or are they immune to it?

I was thinking about parking a cruise ship next to challenger deep, and opening up a restaurant.

Yes they do, the link above details the company that has a branch at the north pole, and all flavours and other icy items can be found via the link, too many to copy here.

    meanwhile some history for you:

"The story of ice cream begins a long, long time ago in a most beautiful place. The story of ice cream begins over 3,000 years ago in China. Lots of cool things were invented in China. Umbrellas, glasses and fireworks were all invented in China but the tastiest and coldest Chinese invention is snow ice cream. The Emperors of China were the first people, we know about who were lucky enough to get to eat snow ice cream. Their cooks mixed snow and ice from the mountains with fruit, wine and honey to make a tasty treat for their rulers to enjoy when they wanted to relax.

How the Romans came up with the idea of making snow ice cream we do not know. But what we do know is that in 62 A.D. the Roman Emperor Nero wanted to eat snow ice cream so badly he sent slaves up to the mountains to bring back snow and ice so his cooks could make it for him. Nero's cooks mixed the ice and snow the slaves brought back with nectar, fruit and honey and then Nero ate it."

    re the headaches:

"When something very cold touches the center of the palate, the cold temperature can set off certain nerves that control how much blood flows to your head. The nerves respond by causing the blood vessels in the head to swell up. This quick swelling of the blood vessels is what causes your head to pound and hurt. Some people call this a "brain freeze," even though nothing is really happening in the brain - it's all in the blood vessels of the head.

A headache from ice cream or another cold food usually lasts about a minute or so, although it can feel like much longer. This kind of headache almost never lasts more than 5 minutes, and it goes away on its own. And although you may feel pain, it's not dangerous and doesn't mean that anything is wrong in your body.

Want to lick your ice cream headaches? Some doctors say that simply eating cold foods more slowly can help prevent brain freeze"

There is nothing to suggest that eskimos's palates are physiologically different from our own.

    Dear ToR,

I'm considering becoming a partner in a new venture, we're looking to open up a strip club just outside London, we've done our research and we'd be the only club in a good few miles.

I've submitted a business plan to the banks, one of them has offered to lend us 1m with my partner and I each putting in 250k of our own money, slightly more than I'd hoped, but we can fund it.

Now, in the strip club game you have to control your girls with an iron rod so that the patrons also get one; my partner's a woman, and she feels unable to get physical with the girls should circumstances warrant.

When a girl gets out of line after being warned, what kind of beating can I administer that won't leave her unable to work? As timing is paramount, I'm only liable to wait until the early ours of Sunday morning to take some uppity mare into the car park and smash her nose to a bloody stump, or give her a good kick in the [deleted].

    Actually...yes, that's it!!! [deleted]

You know, ToR, I'm glad I asked the question here, this place truly has amazing powers, I was worrying about giving bitches black eyes and breaking teeth that would show for next weekend, but this thread has inspired me!!!

Once we've sited the club I'll send a complimentary invite to you and your grandmother ToR, the night is on the management!

    Yours in gratitude,

    Jaybee.

Jaybee as you were bullied by girls (hence your issues with them) it is unlikely you could administer anything beyond a scream for mercy while she beats your sorry wimpy ass. My advice is thus far, stick to IT, it's safer for you. Have a nice day.
