Wish there was a poll option...

So I know alot of people do this, myself included sometimes. I will sometimes be trying to make a decision that I am unsure of. If I am sitting in front of the TV maybe I will say to myself:

"when I switch to another channel if a women is on that channel then the answer is Yes or No or whatever"

Maybe I am going to buy expensive hockey tickets and know I really don't need to go to the game...

"if the next sentence my co-worker says to me contains the word "and" then I will buy the hockey tickets because it's a good game"

Little stupid shit like that, anyone here do it too?

I've done it before. It's stupid. But weirdly tempting, sometimes...

I've done it as well, not much these days, but quite often in the past.

A typical example for me would be:

If the next person I see is a woman, I'll go buy that new tennis racquet

Yeah, I used to do that...

In contrast, nowdays I calculate my income, do a budget for the month, analize opportunity costs and then decide if I buy the racquet or not...

No! If you are unsure of a decision then the best thing to do is to find a quiet location and think about it - meditate. You need to weigh the odds - the realistic pros and cons - without being unnecessarily disturbed by worthless advertisements on the t.v. Sounds like you watch the tube too much. DO NOT let television influence your mature thoughtout decisions that need to be grounded in reality - not in the artificial influences from t.v. commercials!

Before posting such nonsense read the post - and as you say "find a quiet location and think about it" it was used in the context of an example. I don't know where you got that we are making life altering decisions based on TV commercials....sigh.

Occasionally, but mostly when I've already made my mind up, and just trying to find some way to 'justify' spending the money. And then I often ignore the outcome if it wasn't what I wanted.

I used to try to make some decisions based on random events. It turns out I never followed them. I just contemplete my options like I was deciphering the meaning of life. It seems that when I do that, I always make the correct decision. Very little regrets.

    "Sign sign everywhere's a sign
Blocking out the scenery, breaking my mind
Do this, Don't do that, Can't you read the sign?

And the sign said anybody caught trespassing will be shot on sight.
So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house: Hey! What give's you the right?
You put up a fence to keep me out or to keep Mother Nature in?
If God were here he'd tell you to your face, "Man, you're some kind've sinner."

You can't even watch. No! You can't even eat! You ain't even suppossed to be here.
The sign said "you got to have a membership card to get inside" - uh!"
