It's been two weeks since the missus and I got a new 6 week old bassett hound and we cannot find a name to suit her. Ideally, something french would be nice, or maybe even russian (i'm thinking of tolstoy's stories...) but completely open to suggestions.

    a picture to help:
edit : i can''t get pictures to work... won't let upload... won't let me link to the myspace pic or yahoo pic without being logged in... grrr... help?

a french name or a french word? genou would be cute as a name, but you'd be calling your dog a knee. chou is also a favorite french diminutive of "cabbage" and i myself like bijou meaning 'jewel'.

A super cute puppy --I think you should name it 'George'....too plain?

My girlfriend got a pure basset hound as a puppy and he is now 10 months old. His name is Maximus Decimus Meridius..... yes after the fucking movie.

    Names...
well, they hunt and smell real good. They also have a very mean bite if you piss em off. They run crooked sometimes, look depressed

, are very testy, and like to piss on everything (hopefully not in your house). On the otherhand, they are relible and trustworthy. They'll follow you ANYWHERE and stand next to you. They also like gettin dirty.

    So for a girl:
kinda gotta go with a butch name, but they have many human characteristics. So maybe a human name? Wouldn't be my choice, but float that boat. They're english dogs, i believe.

i dont do suggestions for names.

    Good luck
