well, it is important to not put yourself forward as a "figurehead", or folks will see right through you.
if you want, you can use me as the "mastermind" front, while you are doing the planning behind the scenes. also, that way the catholic snipers will be shooting at ME, instead of YOU.

It's already been done and it's called Scientology. I don't think Hubbard was really aiming for world domination - but he did get very rich.

 

How about a religion dedicated to the worship of money, and which is relentlessly hard-faced in its determination to inveigle as much cash out of its simple-minded followers as is humanly possible?

We could call it... The Holy Church of the Hand Over Your Earnings.

Hmmmm, this has given me an idea (note clever way your idea becomes mine, be sure to print out this thread, lots of suing opportunities avaialable in 30yrs!)

Instead of guarranteeing followers place in heaven we can guarrantee them 'secrets' to obtaining and retaining their wealth. I can set up a few pyramid schemes to ensure this happens, they can sell the religion to their pals, get comissions on sales and so on and so forth. In fact the 'religion' could operate as one giant pyramid scheme. I will ensure all major oppositions are 'bought' into it, so as not to stand in our way.

 

Presumably these 'charitable causes' will be owned by us, with the money held in offshore trusts?

 

Hmm I could use you to assist me in manipulating the press. In fact to be truely successful I'd need to buy up one major press group. Yep will need lots of investment for this project. I shall make things considered undesirable in other religions VERY desirable and 'compulsory' but we need a sadistic twist? Any ideas?

let's see now, I think we could even create an 'impoverished group' ie. get bunch of out of work actors to pose as street people (close to truth anyway) set up charity to feed/clothe and house them...houses of course will be Beverly Hills Mansions, but that's a minor detail. Actors can be relegated to servants quarters.

The strategy is as follows:

We need to reach the minds of the young and gullible. The old farts can follow later. And what better way to reach the young as through console gaming? We will create an addictive game with subliminal messages and widespread popularity. This will turn in to a string of games, eventually followed by a trilogy movie block buster. Based on this movie we will release a best seller novel filled with the new ideas. We will push forward a popular icon who will be worshipped as a god.

And at the height of popularity this icon will die by the hand of christians and muslims who have united to oppose the new religion. This will inflame our powerbase, the youth of the world, and finally a hidden code word is given through all media that will trigger a forced response. Overnight all young people will kill off any disbeliever (anyone who isn't wearing the symbol). The streets are covered with blood, the icon is miraculously reborn, the followers celebrate.

Now there is just us. And I am pulling the strings.

how old are you, I'm thinking older contributers will be dead or in cryonic stasis or awaiting head transplant when I launch this project, only younger posters can potentially sue, but I do plan to ensure all judges are in the cult er I mean religion, hence any payouts will be small. Although I am also hoping Earth laws wil not apply on Mars.

However, students are notoriously poor, but I think if as you say we catch them young, encourage them to study hard as part of the new religion, with a promise that when they qualify in all top world positions they repay us for providing them with our religious support for Free. All these gamers will one day be judge and jury, politicians, lawyers. Imagine, all that power in the hands of :
