From my previous posts: ----------------------- Muslims were responsible for the major advancements in medicinal technology, and the popularizing of many herbal remedies and synthesis of medicines. Muslims were the first to measure the Earth's diameter fairly accurately. Muslims were responsible for inventing the astrolabe which led to the creation of the modern compass. Muslims in the early era of Islam were the first to popularize wind technology and expanded wind power in the world. Muslims were the first to expand on and develop new ways of irriagtion and water storage after the romans. Muslim architecture lead tot he perfection of the dome, and the magnificient mosques and buildings in the Muslim world, of which the most famous are the Masjid Al Haram, Alhambra, Taj Mahal, etc. Muslims were the first to invent soap and bathe atleast weekly as is stated in the books of Sunnah, they popularized the concept of cleanliness and bathing regularly. Islamic nations were the first to make doctors swear by an oath to serve and not disclose information on patients. Islamic education systems were the first to have specialties in many new fields of medicine and were the foundation of modern medicinal studies. Muslims were the first to argue that reason can be used to prove faith, which also influenced other religious propagandists. Muslims were responsible for inventing the cannons, and started using gunpowder in warfare. Muslims were the first to synthesize organic molecules with reactions. Muslims invented the entire concept of Algebra and also were the first to use the concept of zero in calculations. The Islamic civilizationw as the first civilization in history which agreed to the concepts all races are equal. Islam preached as a religion and earning your wage is also worship, and Muslims united the Silk road under one rulership and guaranteed the safety of the travellers. Muslims sailors sailed to various regions of the world and had already mapped asia and africa before the european's started their age of discovery of the new worlds. Muslims banks made it easy to deposit money in one area of the empire and withdraw from another, this trust was carried out by private businessment and also the Islamic government. etc... “ Muslim scholars also laid the foundations of mathematics. Muslims were the first to recognize the importance of and use the zero effectively, borrowed from the Indians, bringing to Europe what is now called "Arabic numerals". Otherwise, the scientists and mathematicians of Europe would probably still be counting on their fingers or fumbling with clumsy roman numerals when analyzing data. Muhammad bin Mousa Al-Khawarizmi is considered the founder of modern algebra, and the mathematicians that followed made ever more impressive contributions. Ghiath Edden Al-Kashi, approximated pi to 16 places past the decimal point. The system know as Pascal’s triangle, which assists in factoring equations in the form of (a + b)n, was developed by Al-Karkhi, and not Louis Pascal. Later Muslim mathematicians were able to factor equations as complex as fourth degree equations; fifth degree equations are impossible to factor. (Mahmoud 137-147) The contribution of Muslim mathematicians to algebra is integral to the development of all sciences as mathematics is frequently referred to as the language of science. Newton would have had quite a difficult time quantitatively describing his laws of motion without using the algebra first implemented by the Muslims. http://www.islamfortoday.com/scholars.htm ” Medicine in Islam Muslim Heritage Setting the Record Straight To name a few. Islam brought vast amounts of genius and technology and knowledge among the Arabs. It made them the top in their words at their time. Zakariya, you and I are Muslim and have what we have of material possession and culture thanks to the early Arabs. We should be grateful to them as well as the other rulers of the Islamic world. Peace.
And yet many of them still live in the Stone Age. Well its all fine and dandy that they invented these things- it is important to note the current condition of their society and the contributions they currently make to society. Besides redefining suicide technology I cant think of anything.
Well said. It's nice that America contributed to so many positive things of the past, but that was then, this is now. Now other countries are ahead of us in developing new technology and we have nothing good to contribute except warring with other nations. - N
An Open Post To President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; Okay...As the young folk in the great state of Brooklyn say; "Don't talk about it - Be about it!!!" All this talking is gonna do nothing but get Iran nuked!!! Please stop the rhetoric Mr. Ahmadinejad. Iran has too many people who don't feel as you do. Getting them nuked because you continue to talk this trash is stupid. If you feel that this country is such a "permanent threat" to the Middle East", stop flapping your gums and DO something. Taking a lesson from the streets of my beautiful state of Brooklyn - all this talking with no action will accomplish one of two things: 1}Get you shot or 2}have everyone calling you a punk ass bastard.
Diamondheart, yes they did some very interesting things 1500 years ago, but this is today what have they given us now, a better suicide belt, great vidio of them cutting off some poor souls head while they chant Allah aqBar, as DKB 218 said show us something, other than brag about your past, the past is a bucket of ash, and what have muslems showen us today but punk mouth?
1500 years ago Islam didn't exist. The Golden Age of Islamic renaissance and discovery continued until the end of the Ottoman Empire in the early 1900's. The 700s to the 1800s is a long time to be in a golden age. You are right on one point, that Islamic discovery and science has been lacking ever since the destruction of the Turkish Khilafah and the occupation of Muslim lands by the Europeans and the placing of dictators and drawing up of fake boundaries to create friction and war among later decades. You see the consequence, instability, dictatorship by western puppets, and obeying each and every command the West dictates. Peace.

Sèvres, Treaty of 1920, peace treaty concluded after World War I at Sèvres, France, between the Ottoman Empire (Turkey), on the one hand, and the Allies (excluding Russia and the United States) on the other. The treaty, which liquidated the Ottoman Empire and virtually abolished Turkish sovereignty, followed in the main the decisions reached at San Remo (see San Remo, Conference of). In Asia, Turkey renounced sovereignty over Mesopotamia (Iraq) and Palestine (including Transjordan), which became British mandates; Syria (including Lebanon), which became a French mandate; and the kingdom of Hejaz. Turkey retained Anatolia but was to grant autonomy to Kurdistan. Armenia became a separate republic under international guarantees, and Smyrna (now Izmir) and its environs was placed under Greek administration pending a plebiscite to determine its permanent status. In Europe, Turkey ceded parts of E Thrace and certain Aegean islands to Greece, and the Dodecanese and Rhodes to Italy, retaining only Constantinople and its environs, including the Zone of the Straits (see Dardanelles), which was neutralized and internationalized. The Allies further obtained virtual control over the Turkish economy. The treaty was accepted by the government of Sultan Muhammad VI at Constantinople but was rejected by the rival nationalist government of Kemal Atatürk at Ankara. Ataturk’s separate treaty with the USSR and his subsequent victories against the Greeks forced the Allies to negotiate a new treaty in 1923 (see Lausanne, Treaty of). 1922–23. The peace treaty (see Sèvres, Treaty of) imposed by the Allies on the Ottoman Empire after World War I had virtually destroyed Turkey as a national state. The treaty was not recognized by the nationalist government under Mustafa Kemal Pasha (later known as Atatürk). After the nationalist victory over the Greeks and the overthrow of the sultan, Kemal’s government was in a position to request a new peace treaty. Accordingly, the signatories of the Treaty of Sèvres and delegates of the USSR (excluded from the previous treaty) met at Lausanne, Switzerland. After lengthy negotiations a peace treaty was signed in 1923. Turkey recovered E Thrace, several Aegean islands, a strip along the Syrian border, the Smyrna district, and the internationalized Zone of the Straits, which, however, was to remain demilitarized and remain subject to an international convention (see Dardanelles). Turkey recovered full sovereign rights over all its territory, and foreign zones of influence and capitulations (see Ottoman Empire) were abolished. Outside the Zone of the Straits, no limitation was imposed on the Turkish military establishment. No reparations were exacted. In return, Turkey renounced all claims on former Turkish territories outside its new boundaries and undertook to guarantee the rights of its minorities. A separate agreement between Greece and Turkey provided for the compulsory exchange of minorities. http://www.bartleby.com/65/se/Sevres-T.html A photo of the Treaty of Lausanne's boundaries in the old Turkey: http://www.hri.org/docs/lausanne/arab.gif 1920 In 1919, the British and French implemented the 1916 Sykes-Picot Agreement and divided the Arab world into nation-states. The League of Nations recognized these borders and allotted "mandates" to the French and British to govern these states until it was determined that they were ready for independence. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/globalconnections/mideast/maps/poltext.html Not much has changed, eh? Authors of the letter from America tells the Muslims: "Your human dignity, no less than ours - your rights and opportunities for a good life, no less than ours - are what we believe we're fighting for." May we then ask: Did you fight for the rights of the millions of oppressed Palestinians as vigorously in the last 30 years as you fought for the rights of 2,800 dead in the last five months. Do you intend to kill thousands upon thousands Israelis for Israel's thirty five years occupation as you are doing to Iraq for its few months occupation of Kuwait? Certainly not. Why then this double speak? The only answer to such hypocrisy is not mere education, but education with the mass awareness and mobilisation of the Muslims to struggle for themselves, in all possible ways, for their rights as equal citizens on this planet http://icssa.org/ICSS - waronIslam_the_way_out.htm Peace.
If the "insurgents" would stop struggling and get to work at productive activities, the US would be happy to leave and Iraq could enjoy a renaisance. As far as the West's culpability for breaking up the Ottoman Empire: The Ottoman Empire commited suicide by involving itself in a fight between powers far greater than itself and backing the wrong side. Even back then Muslims were a bit too hasty to declare jihads. Don't blame the West for the foolishness of the Ottoman's.
I've heard that the argument commonly used to gain sympathy for terrorist groups (including the ones in Iraq) is that "at leas they're doing something". Something that's also used for the anti-terror measures put in place by the Bush administration and also, I hear, in Israel. I think we should all remember that hitting your head with a plank in order to cure headache is indeed also "doing something" - but we really should put our sights higher than that :l
Well Iranians are good at making missiles. They been doing it for a long time without any outside help.
This is only the last 150 years of Islam civilization. Look at the past 1400 years of Islamic civilization. You can't make generalizations like that look at Europeans they were in the "dark" ages while Muslims where make great advancements in science, and math. The Europeans leeched off the achievements of Muslims. While Muslims seeded the world!
I am amazed !!! Are muslims trying to change the history away from known facts !!!! I never saw so many untruthfull statements as in this post : 1)medicinal - the muslims took the ancient greek texts and copied them, medicine originated in ancient Egypt,Greece,China and India: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki.Medicine 2)Earths diameter computed by Erastothenes in 240 BC http://www.bookrags.com/sciences/earthscience/historical-chronology-woes-02.html 3)astrolabe invented in Greece 225 BC , true astrolabes were made before year 400 . http://astrolabes.org/history.htm 4) windpower: sails are from ancient egypt , and windmills invented in Persia in year 200 BC. http://www.free-essays.us/dbase/d2/jai167.shtml 5)irrigation and waterstorage all invented before Muhammed , and also used by the Romans. 6)First dome : Pantheon in Rome build year 126. First perfect dome : Haghia Sophia ( Aya Sophia ) christian church build in year 537 in Istanbul. Most mosques are copies of Haghia Sophia church (christian architecture) 7)Soap invented in Babylon 2800 BC , and later used by the ancient romans. http://www.sdahq.org/cleaning/history/ 8)Doctors oath to serve and keep secret : made by Hippocrates in 400 BC http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/doctors/oath_classical.html 9) History of banking : started in Mesopotamia and was refined in ancient Egypt under Ptolemaic greek rule. Could even transfer money then, without moving the coins. http://www.ex.ac.uk/~RDavies/arian/origins.html#invention 10) Algebra , mathematic and "arabic" numerals including zero : ALL invented in India http://indianchild.com/amazing_facts_of_India.htm http://members.tripod.com/~INDIA_RESOURCE/mathematics.htm 11) cannons ( and gunpowder) invented in China , known from year 1128. http://cannon.quickseek.com Actually I am not sure that Muslims have invented very much - except Allah ... OH NO , they took him from the Jews and christians as well !! Even with the same prophets .....
Not only reason but also lying !!! Well, at least you are honest and admits that Muslims are religious propagandists ....
Well being that the European dark ages were over 1000 years ago and yet in todays modern society Muslims are still in one...it says alot about your culture. At one point in Histroy Muslims were the technological leaders, but that was Centuries ago! Not to mention the constant lack of improvement in other areas such as tolerance of other cultures and womens rights. The sad thing is that it is only going to get worse. All that Oil will be gone in 50 years and thats all they have. Stone Age then, Stone Age now. I wish you luck.
This is soooo sick - a muslim lying through his teeths to try to make people think , that islam is something special ...... If you want to promote islam , then at least have the courtesy to tell the truth !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
