If you are really suggesting that his testimony is coerced by anti-Bush forces, then there's nothing for us to discuss. Why did Bush lie about the leak? Well, it is certainly possible that he didn't at first. It is entirely conceivable that Cheney ran the op without any authority from Bush or even notifying him about what he was doing. By the time Bush figured out what was going on, it was too late for him to do anything about it. His people probably cajoled him into stonewalling the whole subject in the hopes it would go away. But it didn't, and now he's in a damned difficult position.

No one in a position to know has offered answers. There is an important distinction between declassifying information in the public interest and leaking classified information that could compromise national security. Leaking her name wasnt going to compromise national anything.
Leaking Plame's identity comprimised not only her ability to do undercover work, but they also leaked the name of the CIA front company investigating Iran's nuclear program. Not surprising if you realize they want to attack Iran, too, without any real intelligence getting in the way. There is no way that knowing Plame's identity or the company she used as cover was in the public interest.
