First of all, see http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0706-02.htm for Joseph Wilson's side of the story. If you are really suggesting that his testimony is coerced by anti-Bush forces, then there's nothing for us to discuss.

Why did Bush lie about the leak? Well, it is certainly possible that he didn't at first. It is entirely conceivable that Cheney ran the op without any authority from Bush or even notifying him about what he was doing. By the time Bush figured out what was going on, it was too late for him to do anything about it. His people probably cajoled him into stonewalling the whole subject in the hopes it would go away. But it didn't, and now he's in a damned difficult position.

"The mission I undertook was discreet but by no means secret."

"As for the actual memorandum, I never saw it. "

"Though I did not file a written report"

"The British government published a "white paper" asserting that Saddam Hussein and his unconventional arms posed an immediate danger"

"I was convinced before the war that the threat of weapons of mass destruction in the hands of Saddam Hussein required a vigorous and sustained international response to disarm him. Iraq possessed and had used chemical weapons; it had an active biological weapons program and quite possibly a nuclear research program — all of which were in violation of United Nations resolutions. Having encountered Mr. Hussein and his thugs in the run-up to the Persian Gulf war of 1991, I was only too aware of the dangers he posed."

    Yup Bushed lied. :bugeye:

Key points - Tenet describes the content of the Wilson report differently from Wilson's July 6

No doubt. But if Wilson was in fact full of shit, then what was the point of blowing his wife's cover?

No one in a position to know has offered answers. There is an important distinction between declassifying information in the public interest and leaking classified information that could compromise national security. Leaking her name wasnt going to compromise national anything.

Leaking Plame's identity comprimised not only her ability to do undercover work, but they also leaked the name of the CIA front company investigating Iran's nuclear program. Not surprising if you realize they want to attack Iran, too, without any real intelligence getting in the way.

There is no way that knowing Plame's identity or the company she used as cover was in the public interest.

We dont need a CIA front company to investigate Iran anymore do we, they openly admit what they are trying to do. They want to wipe Isreal of the face of the earth. They said it and they mean it. Deny it all you want. I dont care if its freakin Gaspumpastan , you dont threathen to wipe an entire nation of the face of the earth with the force of nuclear weapons.

blah blah blah no the USA has never done anything of the sort.

Also revealing everything about Joe Wislon and his freaking wife was in the best interst of the nation,(Bush never did that anyway) the man came back and told half truths in the fucking news media for christ sake. The governement made sure the nation knew the whole truth regarding this dirtbag.

LOL what did she do ? LOL she posed for the cover of Vanity Fair ! Yes she was really upset wasnt she ? LMAO

Iran wouldn't be a threat if it wasn't for Bush's saber-rattling. If the Hyperpower was threatning your country you would build nukes too.

    Spin, spin, uh huh.

Axis of Evil, Axis of Evil, yeah..

That was a delcaration of war right there. It'd be stupid for those countries listed as the Axis of Evil to not build up their military since we flat out said we're gonna be attacking those countries.

Yeah, spin. Call it what you want. Didn't someone earlier mention how right-wingers hate facts? Yep, I agree. God.

Bush is a traitor, and a lying scumbag. America is a great country and he's ruining it. Real patriotic of you, OliverJ, to denegrate the extremely hazardous profession of CIA non-official cover agent. But this is Bush and Co's MO. They slander anyone considered a political enemy, best interests of the nation be damned. If there were any justice in this world, they would be run out of town tied backwards to a donkey.
