Are black people more confident by nature?

It seems to me as though Black Americans are more confident, cool and natural in their behavior than any other race or culture. Black Americans are the trend setters with everything that is cool and probbly the most imitated culture amoungst youth by every other culture. Although many black people may be ignorant, poor, ugly or below average by Americas standards most within this bracket are still very confident in their ability. Whereas many white people (or at least most that I came across may be very smart, rich, attractive and above average by societies standards and are sucidial, depressed, unconfident and weak-minded.) This is why I feel so many white women secrectly or openly desire black men because of their strength and confidence as oppose to the average white mans weakness and (secrect) inferiority complex. Although I'm looking through the eyes of a black youth I just threw this topic out there to see what you think.

Yes, I would say so. They (when I say "they" I am referring to people most likely descended from sub-saharan africans) have a brazen-ness about them, a lack of shame if you will, and there seems to me to be this whole "I am the best, look how much stuff I have" to rap music which makes it quite plain that they have a sort of primal self-confidence which the other races don't.

It's not just an american thing, in fact it's an extremely african thing, just as the huge t-shirts and bright colours and "bling" are. Tasteless (in the eyes of a Westerner) display of personal wealth.

Bear in mind this is all just my opinion.

I really don't think black people are more confident. more extroverted perhaps, but not necessarily more confident. I grew up in a predominately black area, and one thing you pick up quickly is that black people are very weary of situations where they may be the only black people. for example, some black people would not go to a fair in the neighboring country unless they were accompanied by one of their white friends.

Having done some studies on African American males during graduate school, I found that the "confidence" is more of a defense mechanism to assert manlihood and a sense of power that has been stripped by hundreds of years of slavery, then oppression and institutional racism. Black women who were raped by white men got no justice until recently. Black men who had consensual sex with white women were convicted of rape and hung. Black men had their families torn from them, put into ghettos and jail. The majority in this country does not let the black man (as a whole) rise to power through equal education or opportunities (say what you want, institutional racism exists). Part of this "confidence" theory is asserting that a culture still has their pride, when everything else has been stripped from them and they have to fight twice as hard for equal recognition.

Read "I will wear no chain! A history of African American males" by Christopher Booker and "A Question of Manhood: Black men's history and masculinity" edited by Darlene Clark and Earnestine Jenkins. These are fascinating insights and journeys into this very question.

Yes, I think it problably has something to do testosterone levels (which are higher in african males) and other aspects of brain chemistry.

It may also explain why sub-saharan societies never developed even the most basic foundations of civilization - writing, mathematics and geometry. To develop these things requires the ability to see past yourself, towards a bigger picture.

Schleebenhorst, I think you would find Stormfront a much more appropriate place for your type of discussion.

Why? Because I haven't retreated whimpering "Everyone is the same! Please don't sue me?"

If anyone started the racist shit it was the "white men are weak" original poster, and you, who accuses any white man with an opinion of being a racist. You fucking racist.

Not that this is anything other than a civilised discussion.

it dosent matter what colour somebody is to there confidence,

my wife is black, and i am alot more confident than her, its all about individual personality, and personal upbringing,

it has nothing to do with colour, culture matters though, but her ein london we have a very very mixed culture, i live in east london, there is alot of black white chinese indian european etc etc culture here, very mixed, and everyone is different, different type of people, like rude boys, cockney people, yardies, posh snobby people, poor people rich people, gangsters, thugs, nice people holy people different religion and culture all under one roof,

rude boys/thugs are all very confident type of people, (i was classed as one of these) and they are a mixture of different races and cultures in this group of people,

its about personality and upbrining not colour,

    peace.

    i agree

or vice verse like if there was an all black event and meeting, the regular white person from a white bread area would feel uncomfortable or awkward, if he was the only white guy there,

colour dosent matter its just personality, you get shy black people white people chinese indian, race dont matter,

    peace.

Not exactly true, different facial characteristics dictate certain traits, and if we examine what it means to have large eyes, full lips and wide nose, they are characteristics that demonstrate a more open nature. So it is quite possible that if a certian type of black culture (west indies for example) predominatly have these features, then they will indeed be more confident, of course same applies for other cultures with these same facial characteristics.

look up 'physiognomy' for more info.
