post and thread search

    i feel that posts and threads should be searchable by members of sciforums.
    posters should not be able to block this function.
    all posts are public domain for the members.

    I think ALL of sciforums should be searchable!

    For the most part Sciforums internal search function has limitations, some purposeful and others that can't be worked around without generating a lot of work for the server. Third party search engines for the most part have been pretty good with spidering the site and as long as their search engine is kept "live" rather than taking 3 months to show websites, they are usually more capable of doing searches for particular text or posts that have occurred here.

    If sciforums was to have a more powerful search function installed, it might as well look at being a search engine in general as a secondary, however thats likely not going to happen considering the current climate of the internet in regards to the number of search engines that already exist and which ones currently dominate.
